Electrical fire smell in kitchen

Recently, we began having this electrical fire smell in the kitchen. We went around smelling all the appliances. It seemed to be coming from the warming drawer. Pulled drawer out and spotted a paper towel resting on the heating elements all chard. Removed it and problem solved.

gas appliances emitting odor

Sounds extreme but give your local Fire Station a call. They will be happy to break the monotony of the day at the fire house and come to your house with a sniffer machine. It will tell what the odor is? Then get a furnace engineer to check over and service your appliances.

It sounds to me like you might have a blocked flue, and that will cause carbon monoxide poisoning.

Let me know how you get on.

I have a kitchen aid electric range kesc307hbs8. we lost electricity one day and when it went back on the stove began to smell burTt. the range heats up but the control panel and touch pad are not working. What can i do. Thanks

Hi.It is advisable to turn off your fuse or appliance when there is a power outage..When the power turns back ,it will produce surge amount of voltage that would eventually damage your appliances.when power comes back it has a very abnormal current flow.it may rise or fall which might beyond the wires capability.meaning it goes beyond what the wire can carry..It might be that when the power supply return it gives high current and short circuit the ground and live wires of your electric range. You better check continuity using an OHMETER.MULTITESTER if there is no short circuit. If the reading of the multitester if set to ohms is too high thats beyond the maximum amount going to the right, then there is a short circuit..

I've had a Premier electric stove for a number of years and just today i'm noticing a smell coming from the oven that resembles gas while preheating and cooking. Any idea why?

Either the ignitor is wearing out and not drawing enough amperage to open the gas valve properly, or the gas valve is not working properly. You can not tell a weak ignitor by looking at it, you need a amp clamp to test.

Do not recommend using any appliance with a gas smell coming from it.
If you are smelling any type of gas when not on, turn off gas to appliance completely.

You state this as a electric stove, taking this to mean electric ignitors and not pilots............

I have a burning plastic smell coming from my refrigerator, the fridge is not working, but the freezer seems to be working fine. The smell is horrible though. please help

This is a serious issue, your appliance is a fire hazard. It's more likely that a electronic board is catching fire. I highly recommend you to get a technician to check the appliance. Don't wait until you see flames.
