How to tune into a fm station or a amstation

It is helpful to always include brand and model of a device when you have a query. And to indicate the device. There is no way to determine the capability of your device otherwise. Otherwise, look for a menu button.

If you are sure that the manual provided the instruction, google the phrase brand name model number user manual. You might get lucky if you can fill in those phrass with what they actually are. Then look in the contents pate of the manula or use CTRL F to seardh for a key word such as "radio stations" or "tuning." You can always try to contact online support for the device at the manufacturer's website.

just need remote codes to program my dvd player; a curtis 'surround sys'

You always need to include all of the model numbers involved in your question.
If you are trying to use your Panasonic remote for the DVD player, the remote may not contain the necessary code-set if there is any measurable difference in age between the remote and the player since devices made later cannot be considered in any remote, regardless of whether it is a 'universal' remote or not. Unfortunately, there is no consistency between models even within one manufacturer's products and none at all between devices made several years apart.
Even the later 'learning' remotes refuse to learn from all others.
