Restore of factory default
The Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 2 8 computers come with pre-installed Recovery system. In order to save application files and the initial backed up files of the system, the hard disk in a Lenovo computer includes a hidden partition when it is shipped. I have installed fresh vista on my lenovo y530. How can I retore to factory settings as I am finding difficulty to boot without a disk?

All Lenovo computers have what we call the One Key Recovery button. The button with an Arched Arrow or the U-Turn symbol. It is found somewhere near the power button. This only works though if the Hard drive was not reimaged or reformatted by user. One Key Recovery is pre-installed in the hidden partion of the HDD, if it's not affected by any issues you can access this by pressing the OKR button.

Here's how you do it:
  1. Turn the computer off
  2. Press the One Key Recovery Button, the button with an Arched Arrow or the U-Turn symbol
  3. It will tell you Windows is loading files...
  4. After a few moments it will give you options like; One Key Recovery, One key Antivirus, and System Setup
  5. Select One Key Recovery
  6. Click on Restore from initial Backup
  7. Click Start
  8. Wait for it to complete
  9. Click OK
  10. Click Done
  11. Click Reboot instead of Shutdown
This step wipes out and re-installs the operating system, drivers and the default programs that came with your computer. In short, sets it back to factory state.

Running Vista on Lenovo Y430. Have played game Torchlight countless times. Recently, it had trouble closing & when it did, all the fonts on my computer--Outlook, Firefox, menus, the Desktop, and what I'm typing now. Oddly, it doesn't seem to have affected Word or Excel. The computer seems to be working fine otherwise, but I've been all over it trying to get things back to normal & can't. Also, I discovered System Restore had never been set--and the computer's about a year old--so I cant use that. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks

Try launching the One Key Recovery program.
1. Back up all files that you wish to keep from the C: drive
2. Turn off the computer (no flashing lights).
3. Press the Lenovo Care Button (small button with upside down arrow or word NOVO written on it).
4. Select System Recovery (very much different from the above mentioned System Restore).
5. Select to restore to factory default settings / initial settings.

For Lenovo S10 to restore to factory settings follow the steps below:-

  • Turn off your Lenovo. (i mean shut down and make sure it’s power off)
  • Now press on the “One Key Recovery” key at the top of your Keyboard, your Lenovo S10 should boot up. Else hold down the “One Key Recovery” key until it boot up.

  • Now you may choose “Restore to factory settings” from the screen and proceed for the restoration.
** the restoration will first check if your windows files has been corrupted, if yes, then it will restore it to the original state and no restore is required. else it will continue with the restoration
