Tip & How-To about Cycling

To keep your family healthy, regular carpet cleaning is a must

Vacuum cleaners can only remove loose particles from your floor. Just like putting your clothes in the washer, the combination of water, cleaning agents, and physical manipulation is necessary. Your carpet is a filter that traps particles. Like the air filter or oil filter on your car, your carpet can only hold so much. That's why regular carpet cleanings are so important.

Enhanced Carpet Cleaning uses powerful truck mounted machines to deep clean your carpet; removing soil, pollen, microbes, dust mites and chemicals that are brought inside your home on your shoes. These foreign particles trigger allergies and asthma, and may also promote other diseases in young children and the elderly.
Hot Water Extraction Enhanced Carpet Cleaning utilizes the hot water extraction process commonly called "steam cleaning". The world's largest carpet manufacturers (Shaw, Mohawk, etc.) insist on this method of cleaning as the best way to keep you carpet clean and looking new for years to come. Using other methods may actually void your warranty.
Shaw also recommends using IICRC Certified firms like Enhanced the dozens of carpet cleaning companies in El Paso, only a handful meets this requirement. Some companies even try to reduce operating costs by using cold water without cleaning compounds. Regardless of the "great deal" they offer, their "service" isn't worth anything if your carpet isn't clean when they're finished.
Regular deep cleaning also makes your carpet last longer! Soil particles are very abrasive. Even though they are small, these particles wear against the carpet strands so your carpet loses the sheen it had when new. Your carpet is a valuable investment-- make sure it retains its original beauty longer through regular professional cleaning. Ask about the optional Scotchguard® protective spray that helps your carpet resist stains.

when cleaning the cyclone head can this be flushed with water?

Hi Len, it's Jack at Dyson.

The cyclone pack on your DC14 should never be washed, flushed with water or submerged. Any residual water left within the assembly could cause permanent damage to your vacuum not covered under warranty. It could also contribute to an unpleasant odour from your machine in use.

To clean the clear bin and shroud, you can remove the clear bin from the cyclone pack using the catch on the rear of the cyclone pack, as shown below. A soft brush or dry cloth can then be used to remove any clinging fluff or debris from the shroud. Gently tapping the cyclone pack will also help remove any clinging dust particles.

You can also rinse or wipe the inside of the clear bin with a damp cloth to remove any dust particles, but make sure it's completely dry before reassembling.

I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further guidance on maintaining your vacuum, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

keyboard not working

Gather your supplies. There are commercial kits available, but a can of compressed air, a lint-free cloth or wipes, mild dishwashing liquid, and a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush are all you really need for a basic cleaning. After turning off your computer and unplugging your keyboard, gently shake the keyboard upside down over some newspaper to dislodge loose crumbs and particles. Use the can of compressed air to blow a stream of air between the keys. Repeat Step 2. Dampen a lint-free cloth with a diluted solution of dishwashing liquid and water to wipe down the keys. Use the vacuum cleaner brush attachment to suck away any remaining dirt or debris. If you have a membrane-type keyboard (it doesn\'t have a spring under each key) and the keys are truly grungy, you can remove the keys with a small screwdriver and use cotton swabs and 90% isopropyl alcohol or methylated spirits to get it sparkling clean

Hope this helps.

how do you clean the cover on the play yard frame

You can use a vacuum cleaner for the nettings.
For the synthetic leather, wipe it first with dry cloth or use a soft-brush vacuum cleaner attachment to loose the dust and dirt; then wipe it with soft cloth dampened with water+mild soap. Rinse with a damp rag to remove any soapy residue then follow with dry cloth.
Hope this helps. :-)

If you have a wax finish you can buff out scuffs with just a cloth. for polyurethane, do not use water. use the cleaner with a soft terry cloth. to much presure can make it worse.you can also use a small amount of paint thinner on polyurethane. make sure you remove excess with floor cleaner.

Moldy smelling clothes

First, clean your washer with one of the front load washer cleaners on the market. (Affresh, washer magic, smellywasher cleaner, whirlaway hot tub cleaner, or Tide front load washer cleaner) Use the longest, hottest cycle your washer has, with no clothes.
Second, rewash the smelly clothes with the heavy wash cycle and a second rinse option, using no soap or fabric softener. This will remove the soap and/or fabric softener build up in the clothes which is causing the smell. Third, begin using one to no more than two tablespoons of HE soap per load, and not more than 1 teaspoon full of fabric softener if you use it. This is because top load washers used up to 45 gallons of water per load, and your front load machine is only using about 12 gallons total. If you are washing a load of bath towels (which were only used to dry off your clean body, not wipe up the floor or something like that) they are not really dirty,...... for washing "clean" towels, don't use any soap, and of course never use fabric softener on towels.
