Tip & How-To about Vehicle Parts & Accessories

Important info about posting vehicle issues

When posting issues or malfunctions about any vehicle it is very important to include the year make and model. Also, When you have MIL (malfunction indicator lights) on your dash, ex. check engine, abs, trac (!) etc it helps us to help you that much better if you get the vehicle scanned by a certified mechanic. Advanced auto, autozone or O' reillys will scan only ENGINE codes for free, the cannot scan any other brake, body or security codes so we recommend you take it to a reputable certified mechanic to scan these codes. Or you can purchase a scanner to do the job for around $60 to $75 and you can use this tool over and over again

What is mil control system

MIL stands for "Malfunction indicator light" better known as the check engine light or CEL. Please post make, model and year whenever using the site to ask a question.

Started having issues last 2 week where the fuel gauge would just die and then come back on. Yesterday, the check engine light came on and I testerd the computer mod which gave out code of P0442.

P0442 = Evaporative Emission System-Leak detected (small leak)
Go to www.hmaservice.com and register your vehicle by VIN #.. you'll then have access to wiring diagrams, shop manuals, service bulletins, campaigns, illustrations and procedures, etc.
When a 'check engine light' (MIL=Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is turned on, there is a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) set/stored in the ECM/PCM (Engine Control Module/Powertrain Control Module). This code identifies which engine management system component/function experienced a malfunction.
SINCE I don't know which model/year (M/Y) Hyundai vehicle you have, it's difficult to help.
