Tip & How-To about Apple iPhone Smartphone

How to dim iPhone screen for nighttime reading

In Settings, you can enable a low-light filter and then make it readily accessible from the home button.
1. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom.
2. At the top of the Zoom page in settings, tap the toggle switch on for Zoom.
3. Scroll down on the Zoom page in settings and select Full Screen Zoom for Zoom Region and Low Light for Zoom Filter.

Now, with zoom enabled, you can double tap with three fingers to zoom in and out, keeping the low light filter in place either way. That is, if you are zoomed in, you can do a three-finger double tap to zoom out to the normal zoom level and read on an ultra-dim screen.

To make it easier than digging into settings each time you want to enable zoom's low-light filter, head back to the Accessibility page in Settings and scroll all the way to the bottom. Tap on Accessibility Shortcut and chooseZoom. Now, you can triple-click the home button to turn zoom with its low-light filter on and off.

How do I reset my phone if the sleep/power button doesn't work?

It appears that if you go into Settings > General > Accessibility and enable Assistive Touch, a new transparent button appears on your iPhone. This button can be accessed all the time. It is overlayed over anything appearing on your phone. If you tap it, and then tap Device, one of the options is Lock Screen.
Instead of having the icon always be visible, you can go to the Triple-click Home setting under the Accessibility page and choose AssistiveTouch. This way you can easily show or hide the button with a triple-click of the home button!

iphone 4 home button not working properly.. Its working when i press hardly , how to fix it

In this case, your home button's connectors may have been misaligned and would require professional repair.

The good news is, you can still use your phone using its on-screen home button. Normally, this is used as an accessibility option, but it's also a common solution for those with non-functioning home buttons.
To enable the on-screen home button,
go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch. Turn Assistive Touch on, and you'll see a small circle appear on screen.
Tapping that circle gives you four options: Home, Siri, More (for things like multitasking and playback controls), and Favorites. In your case, ignore Favorites, but tap this on-screen button whenever you need to access your home screen, activate Siri, or get all the options you'd normally see when you double-tap the home button.
If the on-screen home button ever gets in the way, simply tap and hold to drag it anywhere else along the frame of your screen.
