These problems happening on different computers are so diverse that working out solutions to solve all of them is hardly possible. But temporary methods to solve crashing problem of iTunes 12 can still be found. Users can stay away from crashing problem of iTunes 12 in two ways in the following.
UPDATE: Apple released iTunes 12.2 to add Apple music support. You can feel free to upgrade to the latest iTunes 12.2 if you met problem on running iTunes 12.

The First Way: Go back to an old version of iTunes

This way is a relatively effective way to make you stand outside the problems of iTunes 12. You can revert back to the version that has ever worked on your computer and update to the newest when Apple fixes the existing bugs. Let us see first how to download and install old version of iTunes on your computer.
1. Download old versions of iTunes
1) From oldapps.com you can download iTunes 4.1 to iTunes 11.4 for installation on your computer.

2) To install Version 12.0.1 of iTunes, you can download it from the following links:
> > Download and install iTunes 12.0.1(32 bits) Here < < > > Download and install iTunes 12.0.1(64 bits) Here < <
2. Double-click the downloaded installing file of iTunes and start the installing process.
3. Following the installing guide where you will be asked to accept the user license agreement and choose the folder to store iTunes until it is finished.
4. Go to find and open iTunes in the above folder to launch to have a try.

The Second Way: Backup your iTunes Library

If you want to stick to iTunes 12 even though it crashes frequently, backup your iTunes library elsewhere like hard drive, external hard disk and Google Drive will protect you from great loss and redownloading. After backuping, your iTunes library can also be played with other media players like VLC, Windows Media Player and other non-Apple media players and devices. Let us then see how to backup your iTunes Library.
Step 1: Download and install M4VGear Backup Tool for iTunes library. Mac and Windows version are both available.
For Windows:http://www.m4vgear.com/m4vgear.exe
For Mac:http://www.m4vgear.com/m4vgear.dmg
Introduction of M4VGear: M4VGear Backup Tool for iTunes Library for Windows is the best and fastest Backup Tool for iTunes library. It can remove DRM from both iTunes purchased and rented videos at a 20X faster speed and convert them to unprotected MP4, AVI, MOV and etc videos so that you can backup them to hard drive, Google Drive or play them with non-Apple media players and devices. (Using Mac OS? Here is M4VGear iTunes Library backup tool for Mac.)
In the DRM Removing process, all subtitles and audio tracks including 5.1 audio track will be preserved. Besides, original quality will stay inside the output MP4 videos.
Step 2: Import the iTunes videos you want to backup from iTunes library to M4VGear by clicking the "Add Movies" button on the main interface. You are allowed to select videos as many as you like for backuping.
Step 3: Click "Convert" button on Windows or on Mac to start converting iTunes videos to MP4 format for backuping. During the process, controlling iTunes is not allowed in case some errors may happen.
Note: You can also choose other video formats as output from the output profile list.
Step 4: Go to the output folder located in the bottom left of M4VGear and find output MP4 videos. Then either transfer them to hard drive or Google Drive for backuping or play them with non-Apple media player or devices when iTunes 12 crashes.
>>To use M4VGear without conversion time limitation, please go to M4VGear store to buy a license.
Conclusion: If you are meeting problem on using iTunes 12, you can easily fix it by taking the two methods above, either with installing old iTunes version, or using M4VGear to backup the iTunes library.

Does mac users also need an anti virus software program on their Mac

There is malware about but Safari has that covered. I use Bitdefender to keep the system clean but Yosemite and newer doesn't need anti virus.
All updates are free so why would anyone choose to pay for newer software, like windows 10!
Sierra is the latest OS and that is free to Mac owners.

I love ppl like you. You have an old MoBo and wish to use a new OS which hasn't even been released to the public yet (and I do know) and complain that you have problems.

The OS was released to developers some time ago to iron out bugs (such as yours) and has only recently seen the release of the RTM version (release to manufacturer) for finalisation before release to the public which should be coming shortly.

I was contacted by Microsoft along with many others long ago when they were developing this OS (I told them all along Vista was ****!) so I know the history of it.

Your problem may be solved with the release to public but could need ppl sending an error report and an update.
