Tip & How-To about Dryers

Dryer Breaker Issue

If your dryer is not heating at all, before you call a service company ,check your dryer breaker. You say why because the unit is running just not heating. You are correct it can run but not heat with a breaker tripped. See, the motor only requires 120volts to run and it requires 240volts for the heater to work. What happens is that 1/2 the breaker can trip leaving you with 120volts-enough to run the motor. Just reset the breaker and see if you get heat. This does NOT help most of the time as it is usually a faulty part however, its worth a try because this may be your lucky day and that's all it is...saving you money.Hope this tip helps someone!

As soon as I turn on the selector to warm or hot it will trip the breaker but it will run with no heat

It is not uncommon for the heat element to break and short out on a dryer. The element looks like a giant spring and when it breaks it can hang down and touch the frame of the dryer causing a short and tripping the breaker. I suggest you have a service company check it out.

dryer runs, but does not heat. Just started this. Model # LEQ1442ESO

Hello, The first thing to check is the house breaker. This unit uses half the breaker to run and the otherhalf to heat. Sometimes resetting the breaker is all it is. If this helps please dont forget to rate me :) Thanks

my new dryer is turning but not heating, is there a breaker or rest inside the dryer?

Sorry to read about your problem.

Their is no breaker inside the unit or reset. Their is a 80% chance you have a defective heat coil or coils. or the heat selector switch is defective. in addition you may have a clogged dryer vent.

I suggest you place a call to a service company.

No heat all vents clear. Where would the fuses or breakers be located on this unit.

Dryer runs but no heat. What should be checked or replaced?

It appears that your dryer is an electric one. So, you need at least 208 - 220 volts for the heat element to come on. If you are o.k. at the circuit breaker and at the wall outlet with the appropriate voltage, then your problem could be a heat element, thermostat, timer, etc. on the dryer. Contact an appliance service company.
