Laptops refusbisched into PC Building a lapdesk

Hello readers,

I am Frank, 46 y/o I fix laptops wich are broken from falling or heat.
I all ways hear my laptop is gone i trew it out.

Well stop doing that, find a old case and fix yourself a portable pc with wifi and a battery so you can put it in a caravan or whatever ..
No need to buy a tablet wich can fall and break easy.. i dont want one.
I did this.

I have taken a heatgun and removed everything.
I made a aluminumfoil patch to protect the videocards plastics and condensators.
I have put some heatpaste in the aluminiumfoil so it heats even less.

Then i put the videocard under the heatgun on 220 degrees celcius for 7 min.
Works again so i now had a working laptop but 2 broken screens. 15.4 inch
I only had a 17 inch working screen.

I end up with the idea to put it all in a desktop case since i still had one standing around eating dust.

To make a long story short. I took pictures.

Have fun building your own!

Rebuild the laptop parts so they do not make connection to the case with wood i used MDF 10mm
26 x 30 cm will do the trick.
Reminder put it in so you can see where to put things and think it over so you can connect everything easy.
My start button is inside :-( i have the luck my case opens from the top so its a easy move.
On the MDF i used the adapters from the old motherboard to rize the laptopboard from the wood.
There is air flow between the wood and the mobo, this makes the motherboard cooler.

My 17 inch screen has to work so i tested it before i rebuild it.

The screen works fine so put it in...

Also i added cooling pads on the videocard heatsink because the main thing was heatproblems in this card.

Here you see the videocard and its DVI connector i used for my 32 inch old tv. 720p 1280x720
In the middle is my start button and the LAN is between 2 buttons.

Result after screen is fitted, ugly as hell Lol So....

Lets try put the front back.

Completed with screen and front.
I did leave the psu inthere so i can allways put some fan's in

Even Jeremy Say'd

Have Fun Thx for reading.

Either you have a bad door jamb switch or the interior lighting circuit ground side is shorting somewhere. Start by checking the drivers door jamb switch for short or wire rubbing thru to metal.

asus eee Pc 1000hd notebook, unit drop screen broken works with external monitor. Can I fix it myself? I have worked on PC's before as well as some lap tops, but never replaced a laptop screen. I see that screens are available from 89.00 to 135.00. Do you know anyone where I can send it to get it fixed at a reasonable price. New one are as low as 350.00. Frank

try to contact the manufacturer of the laptop and it will be much cheaper if the laptop is still under warranty,it will be the same if you contact a local tech, the only difference is that if it is the manufacturer itself who will fix it,youre pretty much sure that it will pass all the quality test

my CD drive is broken, aparently from a short fall (a few inches); a computer tech tells me I'm better off buying a new laptop. What can I do?

You better buy a new CD/DVD drive. Is very easy to change it.

If your laptop have more damage .... buy another one.

Remote hit the TV and crakced LCD TV SCreen

There is no way you can fix a broken screen of a LCD set,the only way to fix it is by replacing the complete panel wich will cost more then a new set.

Laptop amkes a beep sound but doesn't boot

Hi Saniple, more than likely those are beep codes and should give us an idea of what is going on. Typically there is a specific pattern of long and short beeps. If you can identify them for us we can start the troubleshooting process
