I have taken this xbox apart once before but did not get very far. What type of tools are necessary to repair this type of Xbox 360? I would also like to update the CD/DVD drive on it. Any hints or ti

Most of this can be taken apart with a screwdriver . The case is a little tricky. You will notice from the side...where the case is split, there are tabs on the inside that you need to press. I poked a small screwdriver through the vent holes to press them and get the box apart.

3) Data/Movie DVD which is at least 8 gigabyte in size
4) Philips screwdriver to open your DVD-drive
5) Last but not least, some patience

Yes you can. provided you have the right tool and
info .you need to install a new laser . Find a tutorial on
how to take your unit apart on line . unplug and remove the drive
find out what drive you have ,it's on a label on
top the drive buy a laser from (riches PSX repair) when
you get the laser take a 30 watt soldering Iron with some
solder braid you can buy at radio shack and remove the
anti static solder dot on the laser then goto (riches PSX repair)
and follow the on line instructions and that should get up
and running again

if you have any questions just ask.
