Salt container looks blocked with brown sludge. how do you remove to clean?

Hi,

It's always a good idea to include the brand and model number of your appliance when requesting assistance.

Is this the "brown sludge" you're referring to?

This isn't sludge. It's the the water softener resin. The brown/orange colour is perfectly normal and is a good indicator of the water softener functioning correctly. You only need to worry if this turns black.

Aside from this, removal of the salt compartment / water-softener often requires major dis-assembly of the dishwasher and isn't a job I would recommend or advise on for anyone other than a professional - especially when there's nothing wrong with it ;)

Hope this helps.

dr is flashing. The error code is E41. How do I correct the error code. Door is closed. Started flashing in the middle of cycle.

Hello, welcome to FixYa. I understand you have a Frigidaire washer with an error code E41, correct ? Can you reply and include the complete model number ? This will let me speak specifically about your washer instead of generalizing...which can be fine, but specifics are always better. I'll watch for your reply and go from there. Thank you. Regards, Macmarkus :)

I have a Whirpool washer with a two stage agitator. Top part stop

This problem is commonly caused by worn agitator dogs on the agitator cam assembly. The following link explains what the dogs are and how to replace them:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r823955-replacing_agitator_dogs

The part number is included in the link provided. You can purchase replacements at appliancepartspros.com for about $5. For a little more you can purchase the entire cam replacement kit, which includes the cam, the thrust bearing, and the dogs. If the model number you listed this under is correct, the part number for the kit is AP3138838 and sells for about $11.

NOTE: You can refer to the excellent exploded view parts diagrams the web site has to offer for assistance. Whirlpool also recommends the application of a little grease on the thrust washer. The part number for their recommended grease is AP3098553.

If you have any questions about this repair, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

spinning cycle is not spinning.

It could be belt or transmission. I would tip back the washer to check. Some times the belts are under the whole washer. depending on your model, it may be inside the housing. It's only a few screws to take off the front panel. They are pretty self explanitory. Let me know if this helps.
