These are free fixes I found on the internet and tried myself I have rated them as well with my recommendation:

The Towel Trick:

Pros

• Fast and easy
• Opening console is not required - does not void warranty
  

Cons

• Might make things worse
• Usually works for 2 weeks only
• Not recommended to use repeatedly

Recommendation - Do it only if you are not technical and afraid to open the console, use warranty if still permitted.

The Heat Gun Solution:
Pros

• If done right works for long (longer than the towel trick)
  
• Simple to do
  

Cons

• Opening console is required - Void Warranty
  
• Might make things worse
• Not recommended to use repeatedly
  
• Usually works for a fews weeks only

Recommendation - Its involved voiding warranty and hard to make it a permanent solution, use only if you don't have a warranty.

The Eraser Trick:

• Very simple to do
• Requires only a simple eraser
• Can used repeatedly
  

Cons

• Opening console is required - Void Warranty
  
• Usually does not used right and not works permanently
• Requires some technical knowledge
  

Recommendation - Read comments on the thread to know what to expect and do it only if you don't have your warranty.

Conclusion - These fixes are great, but from my experience there is no stable fix for this problem since the Red Ring of Death will come back even if fixed by an expert. Therefore those fixes are good as any but also void the 3 years warranty. If you do have your warranty I recommend on using it.
