Tip & How-To about Saws

Making a wooden picture frame with perfect corners

Picture frames are very easy to make, but many people make the same very basic mistake that will ruin your frame. It is very important that you follow the carpenters rule of measure twice and cut once. If you don't cut the sides of the frame to be the same length, and you cut the angles of the corners slightly off then when you put it together the final corner won't line up.

The things that you are going to need is a miter saw, some clamps, a backer board and a drafting squares to make sure you have the right angle.

To set up take your backer board and cut off a piece that's around 4 inches to be used as a sliding marker gauge. After cutting it off attach a small piece of wood to keep the slider from shifting around.

With the saw unplugged and turned off clamp the backer board to the back of the saw. To cut the corners of the a frame you need to set the saw to a 45 degree angle. Make sure to check the angle using a drafting square align one side with the backer board and bring down the saw blade align them to make sure its a 45 degree angle. When you think that its right grab yourself a piece of scrap wood and make an initial cut. After cutting the test measure the angle to make sure that it is the right angle.

When you are ready to cut the frame itself take the four pieces of the frame and make an initial cut. Once all the boards have been cut once take your slider marker to the length that you want the sides of the frame to be and clamp it in. Take the first two sides and one at a time line it up with the backer board with the angle on the outside and the cut point against the slider. Turn on the saw and cut the other end. Repeat these steps to cut the other three sides.

After all the sides have been cut use a 90 degree angle to align the corners of the frame. Lay out all the sides of the frame and line them up as tight as you can. To connect them you can use a staple gun to staple the corners together. If you were aligning it and pushing the sides together when you stapled the corners you should have perfectly aligned corners.

Now all that's left is to sand it down and get the inside ready for a picture and stain it if you want.

The picture frame still scrolls pictures but the pictures are very dark and unable to be seen well. Is the frame ruined?

Hi, Don't put screen in direct sun light or bright light. Bright lights will destroy LCD screen. The LCD screen has some adjustments on back. You might be able to readjust picture brightness.
Good luck.

Remote control for Smart Parts 11" digital frame (SKU SP11008) doesn't work. Have changed battery, but cannot get any type of connection between remote and frame. Received as gift over a year ago, but did not have time to try it out until now. Smart Parts is out of business. Help, please! Where can I get a replacement remote, or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? The frame itself seems to work okay, but it is awkward and inconvenient to have to operate it from the basic controls on the back of the frame.

Hello,
We have to check the remote control first. After that check the digital picture frame.

Follow the instructions below please;

We must be sure the remote control is working; For this control:

1. Take a digital photo of this remote control while pressing the remote control button.

2. If it is working then the picture must shows the led lamp of remote control as firing.

3. If the picture does not show that it is firing, then, you should control batteries of the remote control.

4.Check the battery and the battery polarity of the remote control.

5.If it is firing. You should control Digital Picture Frame.

6. If the battery of the digital picture frame does have enough energy or not. If battery is low then you shoud use it from the closer distance.

7. I do not think that the Digital Picture Frame is out of order.

Regards.

I want to download pictures from my laptop to a digital picture frame

You need to connect the laptop with the usb cable to the digital picture frame, it will run a setup and install the basic drivers automatically so that your laptop should be able to read the picture frame, if you have a CD provided with frame insert it to comp and follow step by step process.
You will be able to see Picture frame as an icon in my computer section of your laptop
You can open that and copy pictures over there

Let me know if this helps

HOW DO I DOWN LOAD PICTURES FROM EASY SHARE PORGRAM TO PICTURE FRAME?

There is no internal memory in your frame. You can transferre them via the SD card onto the frame. But unfortunantly not irectly onto the frame without a SD card.

kodak easy share SV 811

I had the same problem. I use kodak easyshare software and load my pics on to that. Then put all the pics you want in the picture tray. Have your frame plugged into the computer with your usb cord. Then go up to File menu and drop down to "copy to". On my computer it is Folder "E" which is the drive the frame is connected to. Then pick from the Resize drop down menu " best for picture frame', then click copy. You will see the program loading all the pics to E drive. When done, unplug usb cord and you will see it loading on your pic frame. As easy as this is to do, I found it frustrating as well, but when it works, it is easy. Hope this helps
