Tip & How-To about Redcat Racing Earthquake 3.5 1/8 Redcat R/c Nitro Monster Rc Truck
If your like me and are new to nitro you may get frustrated trying to get it started at first. I spent the last 3 days checking over everything on my truck after doing a rebuild and couldn't get the truck started.
First thing you should check is your glowplug, if you put that in your igniter and it glows nice and bright then it is fine and put it back in.
second thing is, are you priming the engine fully? maybe give it another 1 or 2 pulls while plugging the exhaust to be sure. If it still wont start you should move on to checking your intake.
How much of a gap is there in the carb when you take the air filter off? I had to open mine up a little more to get it running properly but every engine is different.
If you are still having problems you may need to adjust your carb needles slightly. The factory settings will not work for everybody.
As long as you have good compression (you should feel resistance in the pull cord) you should be running by now.
Where I recently did a rebuild I checked over all of the screws EXCEPT the head which was causing me to lose compression and it wouldn't start.
If you don't like maintenance, troubleshooting or repairing then this is the wrong hobby for you!
