Tip & How-To about Medical
How to Relax in the Dentist's chair
1. Make sure your dentist/ hygenist knows about your fears. Saying it outloud and having the person treating you react sympathetically can be a big help
2. Relax your muscles - fear makes people tense their muscle and this activates their pain receptors even more. Use deep breathing to relax your body before and during treatment.
3. Use imagination techniques - imagine yourself in a completely different and positive location such as an exotic beach or on holiday. Try and keep yourself focused on those images to distract yourself.
4. If your fears are very extreme, you could ask for some kind of low level sedation to help you cope with the treatment.

Usually when you go for a regular checkup at your dentist,
he also screens you for any signs of oral cancer because this serious dental
disease could be cured if diagnosed and treated in its early stages.
