Tip & How-To about Dyson DC15 All Floors - The Ball Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

How to remove a sock stuck in the line or brushes

As soon as you know its happened, stop the unit as the engine may burn out however, in our case we tipped it around, put a coat hanger into various holes on the left of the unit, into the brushes, all done gently and eventually the sock got sucked into the basket. It took some patience but it worked and we just finished the job. Lesson learned, pick up obscure items before you start. This could have been a disaster!! Thanks for the advise and encouragement! vacuum tube is obstructed at curve next to roller. I'm unable to clear it using a chop stick. vacuum functions when tube is used w/ attachment for small areas.

Do not give up... Now try wire coat hanger to clean out. Restriction of air flow will burn out your motor, eventually.

I have lots of suction but will not pick up from floor ?

if it will not **** dirt from the floor - then the hose is blocked with dirt and debris. use a wire coat hanger to fish the blockage out of the hose. the blockage usually happens where the hose kinda bends down into the floor unit.

My Hoover Linx is not picking up anything. Nothing seems to be keeping the brushes from spinning but they are not working. It is only 3 months old. Fully charged.

I think you have 2 problems:
1. The LiNX gets clogged somethings in the head unit and the clog is difficult to see. Remove the head (via the push button). and clean out the clog. I do this with a lenngth of coat hanger wire that I bent a small hock on to the end.
2. If the roller stops turning it can be caused by one of the power wires to the moter getting severed in the swivel connection in the head unit. This has happened to us twice. I took the unit apart (a pain) and was able to fix by soldering and taping wires. However, Hoovers design is not great in getting power to the motor and this may recur. I love these vacuums and I hope they engineer a more robust wie feeding solution.

My Dyson DC20 motorhead vacuum has a blocked hose - how can I unclog this? I think there is a sock caught up by the handle. The hose has electrical wires running through it so I cannot cut the hose.

Usually a plugged hose can be cleared using a broom handle, if you can force the blockage through, if not as previously suggested a coat hanger attached to the broom handle (duck tape will do) straighten out hanger so it can be used like a cork screw to screw into the blockage and pull it out, socks, underwear and pantyhose are the usual suspects!
