Can I use your service or you have someone that does on products you dono?


This is a site where volunteers offer free advice or suggestions to people with questions and problems. If you submit a question, be specific with model & make plus a description of what is not working properly or what you want to do. If anyone has knowledge, they will try to answer.

How do you answer questions that appear in the Search section of the iPhone app? There are some that definitely have alternative answers that the user may appreciate. I just don't see the "solve it" b


I can't remember exactly how I started answering questions.
1) You can contact fixya. Do a google seach for 'contact fixya?'

2) I think I began in the following way: Down at bottom of page are categories, example such as computers and electronics.
Select a category and a page comes up with subset of topics.
Click on one of those subsets, and another page comes up showing more specific list of products, with 'problems/solutions.'
Select problems. And a list of problems comes up, and these are usually dated, and not the current list of problems.
Click one of the problems:
Start answering these problems, and fixya monitors the quality of answers.
3) At some point I discovered 'My Home' page by clicking on my sign-in name at top right corner of page.
Was it always there? Maybe, and I just didn't notice.
Currently, I click on my name to arrive at 'My Home'
And the My Home link appears on left side of page short ways down from top of page.
My Home is evidently unique to my IP address, and sign in.
Maybe you have that page already.
Below link for My Home is link for Answer, My products, My Friends.
I click on Answer link and expanded menu appears with general topic categories. And a full list of current questions appears.
Or click on a topic from the expanded menu, and list of current questions appears about the specific topic.
Click on any question to read the question, and below question is answer box where you answer current question.
Many times the questions are posted under products that have nothing to do with the question. For example automotive questions posted under water heaters. etc
I do not control what questions are filtered to my IP address, but am reasonably certain that I see a selected number of questions asked under that category.
4) How do you find a specific question that was asked and answered before, so that you can add a comment?
Contact fixya?
Otherwise, I don't know. Unless you google search the exact same question, and the link at fixya shows up in the search parameter, and then you can add a comment.
5) Add a webpage to your website that is titled exactly like the question, and maybe google will link to that page.

how do i post an away message


  • After you create the automatic reply message and set up the filter, you must leave your computer running and Outlook open in order for the message to work.
  • using the method below to set a rule that sends reply messages to all senders except those who are posting to a LISTSERV list. This prevents reply messages from being sent to everyone on a list.
  • Outlook's Out of Office Assistant tool is another option for setting an automatic reply message; however, you cannot set rules for specific mail, such as LISTSERV lists.
  • If setting a rule is not necessary, instructions on using the Out of Office Assistant can be found on Microsoft's How to Use the Out of Office Assistant in Outlook Web page.
To create and use an automatic reply message:
  1. Create an away message.
    • In 2007, at the top left of the window, click the New button.
    1. In the body of the message, type the away message you want to use.
    2. Save the message.
      • In 2007:
        1. Click the Office Button.
        2. From the drop-down list, select Save As.
    3. From the Save as type: drop-down list, select Outlook Template (*.oft).
    4. In the File name: text box, type: away
    5. Save the file to your desktop.
    6. Close the message window.
    7. Click the No button.
  2. To use your away message, set up an automatic reply filter.
    1. From the Tools menu, select Rules and Alerts....
    2. Click the New Rule... button.
    3. From the list, select Check messages when they arrive.
    4. Click Next.
    5. Click Next.
    6. Click the Yes button.
    7. Under Step 1: Select action(s), place a check in the reply using a specific template check box.
    8. Under Step 2: Edit the rule description (click an underlined value), click the a specific template link.
    9. From the Look In: drop-down list, select User Templates in File System.
    10. Click the Browse... button.
    11. Navigate to your desktop.
    12. Click OK.
    13. From the list, select the away message template.
    14. Click the Open button.
    15. Click Next.
  3. Set up the rule to create exceptions where LISTSERV is in the recipient's address or the sender's address.
    1. Under Step 1: Select exception(s) (if necessary), place a check in the except with specific words in the recipient's address check box.
    2. Under Step 2: Edit the rule description (click an underlined value), click the specific words link.
    3. In the Specify a word or phrase to search for in the recipient's address: text box, type: LISTSERV
    4. Click the Add button.
    5. Click OK.
    6. Under Step 1: Select exception(s) (if necessary), place a check in the except with specific words in the sender's address check box.
    7. Under Step 2: Edit the rule description (click an underlined value), click the specific words link.
    8. In the Specify a word or phrase to search for in the sender's address: text box, type: LISTSERV
    9. Click the Add button.
    10. Click OK.
    11. Click Next.
    12. Click Finish.
    13. Click OK.
    14. In the Rules and Alerts window, click OK.
  4. Set Outlook to check mail every 60 minutes. For instructions, refer to Configuring Outlook 2003/2007/2010 to Automatically Check Mail at Regular Intervals
  5. When you return, disable your automatic reply filter.
    1. From the Tools menu, select Rules and Alerts....
    2. Next to your automatic reply rule, clear the check box.
    3. Click OK.

same as the problem that I just read that someone else had, product 2010 instructions make no sense why do you keep selling this product!


Fixya does not sell products.
We sell answers to questions.
In this case the answer is free, which might help make up for a bad product.

Your inquiry is posted under timers.
If you have a timer, then add a comment with clear description of timer, and I might have correct instructions that sort out some of your difficulties.

Press 'add a comment' link -or- 'reply' link that appears on each answer.
That sends me an e-mail so I can read about the issue important enough for you to sound off about.

You can also request paid expert help, and then expert discusses specific problem directly one-on-one.
Fixya is always less expensive than a service call.

i dont beleive i cannot attain a 80% answer rate and keep it.I think fixya wants me to answer these problems and not put me on the leaderboard--I have answered genuinely and without a fee for around 640 queries


Though I can understand your frustration, I am sure it is through no fault of the FixYa staff. I too struggle with keeping an 80% answer rate, even though I answer both genuinely and in description, and even follow up with the people who rate me poorly or comment back. For what it's worth, I find that I have a higher chance of getting a thumbs up from someone who answers the question after me rather than the original asker.

Though this truly isn't a solution to your problem, my best advice is to simply keep trying, and hope for the best. Good luck my friend!
