how can i remove my cd ?

In the Finder (on your Desktop), you can usually remove your CD by
  • simply dragging the icon for the CD to the Trash (Trash icon will turn into an eject icon).
  • You can also right-click (Ctrl-Click) on the CD icon and Select "Eject" from the dropdown menu.

If your CD doesn't eject,
  • shut down your laptop;
  • press and hold the mouse key (press the click on the trackpad);
  • while holding the mouse key (pressing and holding the click on the trackpad), press the power key to restart the computer;
  • let go of the click on the trackpad after the CD ejects.

profile service service will not allow me to logon

First of all start your computer in safe mode. This can be achieved by pressing F8 during the start-up of your computer. If this is done correctly you'll get a menu where you can choose to start your computer in safe mode.
After it is booted in safe mode follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, type regedit in the Search box, and then press ENTER.
  2. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
  3. In the navigation pane, locate the folder that begins with S-1-5 (SID key) followed by a long number.
  4. Click each S-1-5 folder, locate the ProfileImagePath entry in the details pane, and then double-click to make sure that this is the user account profile that has the error.

    • If you have two folders starting with S-1-5 followed by some long numbers and one of them ended with .bak, you have to rename the .bak folder. To do this, follow these steps:
      1. Right-click the folder without .bak, and then click Rename. Type .ba, and then press ENTER.

MacBook (10.5.6) saved 3 documents to ''Apple - recent items'' today instead of to my memory stick. I can see them, but neither open them nor send them back to my memory stick. ''Help'' gives a convoluted method of using ''Finder'' or ''Applications'', but both seem too complicated for my tiny Scots brain! Help!!!

You can use finder, but I would try Spotlight. Basically click the magnifying glass in the upper right part of your screen and search the name of the file. It will list all documents and programs that have that name. then open the containing folder and cut and paste to stick. The following is a video describing how to use it. http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-search-for-files-and-folders-on-a-mac.html
