Tip & How-To about Luggage & Travel

The proper way to wear a messenger bag

For students one of the most popular bags is the messenger bag, but if you aren't wearing this bag the right way it can be really bad for your back. According to Timbuk2 designs one of the leaders in messenger bag design the proper way to wear a messenger bag is diagonal across your chest. They say to wear it nice and snug around your body and high on your back.

I have found that the most natural way for me to wear my messenger bag low on my back but it tends to make my back feel strained. When I switched to wearing my bag the way that Timbuk2 recommends I found that my back tends to bother me less. It takes some getting used to wearing the bag tight across your back but your back will thank you!

I have a really big laptop, are there messenger bags big enough to fit a 17 inch laptop?

That is a pretty big laptop, luckily there are a lot of bags out there that will fit laptops that size. You can find some at Office Depot or Walmart you can also try searching directly on targus and jansport's sites for bags that will be big enough.

My duffel bag is dusty inside is it safe to put it in the washing machine?

I have never put a duffel bag in the washing machine. Usually my bags just get dusty inside so I just wipe it out with a damp cloth and let it sit in the sun to air dry. If it really needs to get cleaned you should check with the maker of the bag before putting it in the washing machine.
