Tip & How-To about Televison & Video
System freezes after a few hours being turned on. There can be a number of faults that will cause this 1 and 2 is the hard drives master driver or slave. 3 is the power pack (PSU) these can over heat and burn out the capacitors and fan these will need changing. then there 4 there is 2 fans in the unit these can fail or slow down making the unit overheat these fans are 5v 40mm bearing type. you can change these for 12v same size and run them off the hard drive wiring.the system should never go over 40c new hard drives can heat up to over this and cause the unit to over heat so you will need to put cooling fans on the bottom of the hard drives and make a barrier between the hard drives and mother board i have done this with some card board and left a part open were the fans are fitted. this has worked very well hard drive area temp was up to 50c and mother board was at a steady 30c with room temp at 29c. now for number 5, there are 2 chips on the left side of the mother board just pushed in. these can lose contact, you will need to remove them and clean the pins on the chips just prise them out carefully and clean the pins even a bit of silver conduct will help used for repairing damaged boards. let it dry then put the chips back in, making sure they go back in the same way they came out.the are the memory chips newer models don't have these, they have memory like a pc/laptop. but they can do the the same thing. Its is best to do a full rest if you are not changing hard drives, wipe both the hard drives on a pc. reformat them to FAT32 and down load the firmware from dedicated micro.remember the firmware is the same as the one that was on before, to find this out in the first menu it will tell you the boot firmware and system firmware ie 3.1 etc. the hard drives now formated on the main drive (master) place the files from the zip file from the down load onto the hard drive slave drive as long as it is formated that is it the system does the rest to it on setup. shut down the pc or what ever you are using and remove the hard drive and reinstall it to the digital sprite. when every thing is back together it is now ready to be setup. plug all the cameras back in and what ever you have to plug into it. don't have the power on to the cameras wile doing this. turn on the power to the digital sprite 2 now it will setup and unzip the files to the drive. then turn on the power to the cameras. when finished it will still be setting up . banner should be on screen the screen fixing files to c drive then d drive them image file to d drive after this is all done go to menu on first menu check numbers of the unit. the go down to shut down and shut down unit. press 1 when asked to for 5 seconds. now leave the unit of for 10min. then turn back on. and this is how to fix a faulty system you will now need to set up system to how you want it most setting will be the same but some will have been lost like . internet setting and camera setting colour and external keyboard control setting they will need to be rest. but wiping the system and reinstalling it will help as every time the system freezes it can loes files or images. hope this helps as meany as it can with a freesing systerm.
