This "high end...?' range blew up twice early on when using the oven. My wife had her hair and eyebrows burned just by opening the oven door to check the cooking progress... GE was very belligerent about fixing or replacing the range until they heard that the gas company and fire dept. had made an appearance. Then, they could not wait to get out here and change the unit out....no questions asked..... A "TIP" for others when GE declines to own up to their problem.
Our problem now.....after they replaced the unit, the oven temp does not match the displayed temp. This was suttle at first and we though it something we were not setting correctly. Example: If the oven is "set" to 350 F. most foods take a lot longer to cook than normal. The oven has been checked with a calibrated temp guage and its cooking temp in the oven is 100 to 130 deg. lower than what it was set for and also what it displays. It seems to do Ok cooking at lower temps, i.e. 250 deg. but, once it is set to cook for 350 or higher, it never makes that temp inside the oven even though the digital display shows that it is at the correct temp.
I would appreciate any suggestions from this forum on what is going on and how to fix this oven. Kindest regards, skywagon
