I've recently gotten into selling items on ebay and I've found that products that have images with a white background sell more quickly than those that have a lot of stuff in the background. To acheive this impression of profesionally photographing these items I built a light box from a few items that you usually have lying around the house or can get cheap at a local home improvement store.
First you are going to need a cardboard box, it should be big enough to fix the item that you want to take pictures of. Take a ruler and scissors, measure and cut out a square about 2 inches from the edge of the box all the way around on the four sides leaving the top and bottom of the box alone. Then using white poster paper line the inside of the box. With another piece of poster board cut it to the width of the box and leave it longer than the height of the box, you wan the poster to curve in the bottom of the box but not crease. If it creases the line will show up in your pictures. Then you have to cover the top and sides of the box using a thin white fabric (it can be an old bed sheet doesn't have to be something fancy) use tape to hold the fabric in place. Make sure to leave one side open so you have somewhere to put the camera. Finally you need a bright light, like a desk lamp then you are all set to photograph like a pro!
