the faxes coming through are blank pages, I received faxes yesterday but today they are coming through blank and the ink cartridge is brand new.

take the cartridge out and dab it on a paper towel - there should be a dark black solid rectangle of ink - if not the printhead is dry or blocked - if it is dry soak the printhead( the place the ink comes out) in a dish of warm water for 2 or three minutes and try blotting again - if that doesnt solve your problem take the cartridge back to the retailer or refill store you got it from

Kindly remove the sim card on the phone, there is a gold plated part on it right? kindly wipe it with a dry clean cloth then place it back in, let see if it will work.

dropped in water keeps saying insert sim .nokia 6230i

Turn it off. NOW!

Open up the battery compartment / remove the battery, remove the SIM card and anything else that will allow improved air access to the phone.

Now find somewhere warm to leave it to thoroughly dry out - An airing cupboard is a good place. The oven is not!

Alternatively, if you have any bags of silica-gel lying around (the little sachets that come in electronic goods packaging) place the phone in a sealed bag with a few of them.

Leave it for at least 24 hours to dry out and then see if the problem has rectified itself.

I don't want to sound too pessimistic, but there is only a slim chance that this will work. Unless you dropped it in distilled water, any remaining residue left once it has dried out could still cause further problems.

similar to submerged in water problem

It doesn't take very long for corrosion from sea water set in, and it's not that easy to effectively clean and dry it(drying isn't enough, salt water residue is left). Your dad helped it some, otherwise the phone would be completely dead, but some localized damage did happen. I think the SIM in this model is relatively exposed and it's likely that it suffered some of the water damage. Try another SIM and see what happens - if it works OK then you really got away with it with a slap on the arm, but I doubt that it's the only thing broken. Good luck
