Tip & How-To about Honda 8 HP Engine

WARNING: Do not allow PW to run "dry"

It is recommended that once pressure washer is in operation and water flow thru wand is there ,that you do not allow off period between burst of no more that 2 minutes or you highly risk damage to your pump, not engine, due to overheating. See if Dump valve is adjustable, cheaper models not adjustable. This valve senses pressure/heat build up in pump when trigger is released, and is a secondery backup to release such heat/pressure to avoid pump failure. If you have repeatly left trigger off for more than 2 minutes in for prolonged periods of time, this is not good.

Stanley motorised pressure washer. Cant get the water to flow

Disconnect the wand from the washer if you get water coming out of the discharge, the problem is in your wand or the line is plugged going to the wand.

I have a Troy Built GVC 160 (2600 psi) pressure washer. I used yesterday afternoon without problem. Today, I can get it started, but it conks out immediately as soon as I engage the wand. I'd appreciate any help you can provide.

Make sure that the engine is set to full power. Lower the pressure to the unit with the pressure adjust knob as much as possible. Check the nozzle to make sure that no debris has entered and is lodged at the tip of the wand. Start the engine with the spray gun handle in the open /on position allowing water to flow thru. Allow the engine to run for a while to warm-up. Increase the pressure a small amount at a time to reach the desired pressure. To increase the life of the unit, do not use the machine at max. pressure setting. Adjust to about 75% of rated capacity and increase only for stubborn debris then reduce. Good luck
