Tip & How-To about Xantrex XPower Powerpack 600 > 600 Watts 12 VDC > 852-2000

Battery replacement in Xantrex XPower Powerpack 600 > 600 watts 12 VDC > 852-2000

Battery replacement will require opening the case of the Powerpack 600. The four rubber feet must be removed first (Phillips head #2 screwdriver). Next the two orange handle halves come off starting on the radio side. The screw heads may be either 9/32" or 1/4" heads depending on age of your Powerpack 600. Use either a 9/32" or 1/4" nutdriver to remove the screws. The orange handle halves swing open like a clamshell at the carrying handle and lift off. The orange handle half on the flashlight side has two hidden latches in the handle area that must be released with a flat head screwdriver first before that half can be fully removed. Now that the orange handles are out of the way, slip off the bumpy rubber handgrip from the gray handle. On the radio side of the gray plastic case are 9 Phillips head #2 screws that are in recessed holes to remove. Once those screws are removed, the gray plastic case seperates in half and you can unplug the two pin connector going to the radio and set the radio half aside. You are now inside the Powerpack 600 and can replace the battery if needed.

I need advise how to remove the machines cover and get access to the driving belt. Alternatively please give me the link for a service/repair manual

There are three exposed screws on the bottom of the machine that can be removed with a Phillips screwdriver. You also need to remove two of the four rubber feet with a Phillips screwdriver. The other two rubber feet also need to be removed, but they have some kind of specialty screw that needs a split-head screwdriver. I just removed them by twisting the entire foot with a pair of pliers. Then the panel pops off fairly easily, and there's the belt. As an aside, the drive belt on mine kept coming off, and just putting it back on didn't help because it would just fall off again. It turned out that the whole bottom of the machine was bent, so the motor gear wasn't lining up with the drive gear. Not sure if this is fixable.

remove center console from 2002 ford explorer. do I have to remove the seats?

I don't think you have to remove the seats. However any nuts, bolt or screws you remove you'll need to keep in case you're replacing the console.

Open the console and at the bottom you'll find two Phillips head screws.

Look at the front of the console, beneath the radio. Next to the coin holder area, is four bolts. Remove the four bolts with a ratchet.

Look at the center part of the console. There are two Phillips-head screws. Remove these with a Phillips screwdriver.

Pull the console upward to unhook it from the floorboard. Remove it from the Ranger. With the console removed, you'll see the mounting brackets for the console and the nuts the screws and bolts go into. It is not necessary to remove these brackets when replacing the console.

Move the replacement console into the cabin. Line up the console with the mounting brackets on the floorboard. The console screw and bolt holes should be lined up with the mounting bracket's nuts.

Hold the console firmly in place with hand. Insert and tighten the two Phillips-head screws in the console storage compartment, and then insert and tighten the four bolts at the front part of the console. Insert and tighten the two Phillips-head screws in the center of the console.

Hope I didn't over explain. Hope this helps.

Can i replace the battery in my Royal EX2 Exacta Scales Postal scale?

90 day warranty on this scale to begin with so when battery dies after 10 years, you have no warranty to preserve. Royal EX2 Exacta Scale - royalsupplies.com - manual downloadable.

You will need a Phillips #1 and I think a #0 for best fit. 2032 lithium coin battery (fresh, so it will last another 10 years). 1) Peel off large label from bottom (Xacto knife to get under a corner). 2) Remove 3 screws attaching pan to mechanism. Use magnitized P0 screwdriver here. 3) Remove 4 rubber feet, and four P1 screws under them. 4) Opposite side of display from the button is the black battery case. Use P0 screwdriver to remove three screws. Replace battery. 5) Put back together...

Don't mess with the mechanism inside (at least not if you want a calibrated scale) any more than you have to while changing the battery.

How do I open the housing to rplace the drive? Many thanks.

If you don't see any screw holes, look around for some rubber feet, chances are the rubber feet are hiding some screws. If you remove those carefully enough, you can easily put them back in. Once all the the screws are removed carefully pry open the case and remove/replace the hard drive inside.
