Tip & How-To about Frigidaire ATF6000ES Front Load Washer

Pumps breaking or clogged and leaking drums

Ever since these washing machines came out the pumps have been an issue. This is true with just about all of the front loading washing machines but more so with the Frigidaire models. I worked for Sears for years as a home repair technician and one of the biggest things that I ran into was these pumps getting stopped up with change, socks, and even under ware. If you want to extend the life of your machine and the pump, simply check to make sure your pockets are empty before starting a load. After every load run your hand through the baffle to make sure that there are no socks or change left in it. These things get sucked into the pump in no time at all.

There is one service call I can remember where I pulled out a good 30 dollars in change from the pump on this man's washer. He couldn't figure out why it hadn't been draining and he was in awe when I found all the change that he had lost over time.

It's simple though and it only take a second to do and it will save you time and a headache in the long run.

One other tip for this model is do not over load these machines. I know that the sales people tell you that you can fit 20 pairs of jeans in these or 15 towels. That couldn't be further from the truth. The result is the rear bearing going bad and the seal between the drum leaking. It costs a fortune to repair and makes a huge mess when it leaks.

Keep the loads to a minimum if possible. I don't mean just put a couple of things in but just make sure you only fill the drum 3/4 full. That is a safe sized load.

It is not spinning now.

Depending on the make and model top loader or front loader, the most common issues are the lid switch or door lock safety interlock, or the pump filter is clogged and need cleaned. Let me know what machine you have and I can go from there.

I have a top loading Maytag Neptune TL that will not drain. When you start the machine it runs for a few minutes & then shuts off and the time on the screen freezes. I think there is possibly an issue with the drain pump? Is there a way to see if it is clogged?

My GE Profile Prodigy WPSE4200A Washer does not spinning for drying and it smells like burning rubber. But it does aggitate for washing. It is a belt issue or could be some electronic device issue?
