Tip & How-To about Onkyo TX-SR804 7.1 Channels Receiver

ONKYO TX SR804 DISPLAY, SUB VOLUME AND SUDDEN SHUTDOWN FIXES

The Mainboard on the TX SR804 is falty and i just fixed two units with this solution and it bullet prof un der the HDMI board you will find the mainboard stating up right with its back facing the preamp board and it has 3 screws that secure the mainboard to the system 2 on the middle top of the receiver and one on the right side just under the screw you removed for the HDMI board that secures it to the Audio processor board.
Once the screws have been removed pry the board back going from left to right and slowly disconecting the board. THE FIX. once infront of you clean all of the ribom connectors and the and bend the pins on the connector P954A, P959A , P2005A and P2004A THESE CONECTORS ARE THE REASON THE SYSTEM WILL SHUT DOWN SPECIALY THE FIRST TWO. I ALSO RECOMEND PUTING A INTERNAL FAN POINTING TO THIS BOARDS KEED THE HEAT DOWN. the reason the SUB is low or the HDMI does not seem to work well they are related to the SIF connectors on the the are 4 on this board and i used a thin bud hard plastic and inserted bering each sif cable to push the pins againt it. this is a 20 minute job and you amp will be fixed. i fixed many like this. Have a wonderfull holiday. Mvianna

onkyo tx sr804 receiver turns on by itself

I have the same receiver and the way to fix is simple. in the main board of this unit there are 5 connectors and they slide into other components like Lego. the issue is the king of material they are made of it's cheap. if you reseat the mainboard it will fix it for a day or two, them it will start again. the easyway is to re seat the board and put a fan inside of the receiver between the transformer and the inside of the amp pointing down about 20 degrees connect the fan to a ajustible voltage adapter and connect it to the outlet in the back of the unit. so it comes on when you turn it on. this voltage adapter is cheap. the adapters people buy for phones and or MP3's at Radio shack or Best buy it goes from 1.5v to 12 volts/ this way you can control how loud the fan is in side the receiver. i find 4.5V does the trick. The connectors on this board start to loose contact with some of the pins when heated. the fan keeps it cool enouth to fix the issue. I fixed manny these ONKYO 804's this will fix it. you just have to do it. the main board is inder the HDMI board in a Vertical position running from one side to almost the Power supply. it has 2 screws also holding it in the inside middle back of the amp. Becarefull with these amps 75 V at 23amp's DC is no joje leave it off for a couple of hours to satart working on it. Good luck.

keep losing ditigal signal while watching tv

Re seat the audio and HDMI board on your 804 and it will correct the issue. from the back its the HDMI is the TOP board on you left an the Processor is the vertical bord on the left running along the side of the receiver it connects to the main board, amp board, and HDMI board as well as the main panel via a wide ribbon cable. take the boars out and reseat it back in place. if you put a fan in side the unit it will help alot. these connector when they start going they get worse with heat keeit the unit cool. good luck

Losing digital video signal

re seat the HDMI board and SOUND processor board from the back it's the board sitting on the left side in a vertical possition and has a wide ribbon cable connected to the main panel in the front. take the board out and the HDMI one has to come out first. it's sit's on top and connect's to this board and the MAin board underneat . good luck.
