Tip & How-To about Cats
Bringing a kitten home is very exciting. You have a new friend at home and it looks so adorable. First thing you must know is that kittens grow fast and they grow a lot! Its' weight can double or even triple during this time. That's why they need much more calories than adult cats and should be fed more times per day(4-6 times). If you find a kitten that's less than four weeks old, feed it kitten milk replacer, not cow's milk, as it doesn't have the all the required nutrition. After four weeks of mother's milk, kittens make their transfer to kitten food, and it's time for you to feed it right. During this time, emphasis should be on high quality protein (meat, poultry or fish), vitamins, and minerals. Fat and carbs should be given in the same amount as for adult cats.My suggestion is to buy high quality products specifically for kittens in pet stores like Petco and online at websites like pet food direct (these products have everything the kitten needs). What should you not feed a kitten? Under no circumstances should you feed a kitten dog food, chocolate, cooked bones, or cow's milk. Cats should receive kitten food pretty much from the 4th-5thweek until they are one year old.
