Tip & How-To about Cats

Importance of Taurine for Cats

Taurine is an amino acid that can be synthesized from methionine and cysteine. It is greatly found in muscles, the nervous system, and the retina of the eye. For cats, taurine is an essential amino acid because they cannot synthesize their own and must get it from their diet. If cats don't get the appropriate amount of taurine, they can suffer from dangerous health problems. First of all, lack of taurine can impair the cat's vision and even make it blind. This is because of the damage that's caused to the retina of the eye. Another health problem that can arise from lack of taurine is dilated cardiomyopathy, which can cause the cat to have heart failure. Finally, lack of taurine can cause problems in reproduction such as abortion and abnormalities in the newborn kittens. Clearly, taurine is crucial for a cat's health. So if you're acat owner, please make sure your cat gets the necessary amount of taurine.

Do they really contain bull fluids

No, energy drinks contain taurine which is a natural amino acid. It is found in tissues in many living creatures, but can also be synthesized artificially. The artificial version is what is used in all food products.

What's the difference between glutamine and glutathione?

Glutamine Basics
Glutamine is the single most abundant amino acid in the human body. it is made internally and so is classified as a nonessential amino acid. However, conditions and circumstances such as chronic stress, infections, surgery and physical injury can lead to the development of glutamine deficiency.
You need glutamine for purposes that include eliminating the waste product ammonia from your body and maintaining normal function in your immune system, as well as maintaining the function of your digestive system and brain. Most people have no problem supplying their bodies with glutamine.
Glutathione Basics
It functions as an antioxidant and helps protect your cells from cell-damaging molecules known as free reformer. In addition, glutathione helps your body absorb and use other amino acids.Glutathione plays a major role in controlling the types of bonds formed between proteins and other substances in your body.
Glutathione, also called glutamyl cysteinyl glycine, is a natural substance in your body made from a specific form of glutamate, as well as two other amino acids called cysteine and glycine. Like glutamate, cysteine and glycine are nonessential amino acids.

L-cysteine is a naturally occurring amino acid that is classified as a protein amino acid. One of the main functions of l-cysteine is the promotion of stomach lining health and also the correction of situations where the absorption of essential nutrients from food sources takes place. L-cysteine can be found in a number of foods ranging from meats to dairy and vegetable sources. It is added to many baked goods as a dough conditioner in order to speed industrial processing.

what is tourine

Taurine, or 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid, is an organic acid widely distributed in animal tissues. It is a major constituent of bile and can be found in the large intestine and accounts for up to 0.1% of total human body weight.[1] Taurine has many fundamental biological roles such as conjugation of bile acids, antioxidation, osmoregulation, membrane stabilization and modulation of calcium signaling. It is essential for cardiovascular function, and development and function of skeletal muscle, the retina and the central nervous system. Taurine is unusual among biological molecules in being a sulfonic acid, while the vast majority of biologically occurring acids contain the more weakly acidic carboxyl group. While taurine is sometimes called an amino acid, and indeed is an acid containing an amino group, it is not an amino acid in the usual biochemical meaning of the term, which refers to compounds containing both an amino and a carboxyl group.
