Tip & How-To about Dogs

How to feed puppies

Puppies grow 20 percent faster than adult dogs. That's why they require muchmore food, especially in the first six months. Once puppies are two months old, they should be getting 4-6 meals per day. From the 4th until the 6thmonth, they should eat 4 meals per day. For the next two months, give it threemeals, and from six months and on cut it down to two meals per day. Whenfeeding your puppy, make sure its food has all the necessary nutrients toensure rapid growth and healthy body (highly digestible protein, essentialminerals like calcium and magnesium, and Vitamin D). Best type of food to feedyour puppy is dry food because it has a low percentage of water (compared tocanned and semi-moist food) and all the quality ingredients. As far as tablescraps go, don't start! Table scraps do not have the nutrients puppies need andcan cause them upset stomachs and diarrhea. Moreover, by giving them tablescraps, they will become beggars, which will be hard to change in the long run(by training).
