how do i get the drum off?

What you do first is unplug it for safety. Remove the filter. Then remove the 2 screws that hold the filter chute to the top of the machine. Then grab each side of the top from the rear and pull slightly forward to release the front and raise the top. Then remove the screws on the front and raise up the front after unplugging the lid switch. Then grab the idler and get the belt loose and lift the drum out as seen in my home movie:

how do i replace the motor belts on GE Dryer model DPSR475E0WW? The squeeking is unbearable.

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Phillips screwdriver
  1. Step 1 Unplug the dryer and open the dryer door.
  2. Step 2 Unscrew the screws under the top lip, where the dryer's door closes, with your screwdriver. Once these screws are removed, lift the top off of the dryer. On older models, the entire top will hinge upward out of the way, and on models made after 1997, half the top will pull off.
  3. Step 3 Remove the screws on the inside-top corners of the front panel so the front panel of the dryer can be removed and set aside. On models made before 1997, the front panel should be carefully set to the right side; on newer models, the panel should be set to the left side of the machine. Be careful not to damage the door-control wires.
  4. Step 4 Locate two screws approximately 6 inches off the floor on each side and remove them, allowing you to push the sides of the dryer slightly apart so the drum can be removed. Pull the drum slightly toward you and reach around to remove the dryer belt from the motor pulley. If the belt is broken, this step should not be necessary. Once the belt has been removed from the motor pulley, the drum should pull up slightly and out of the dryer toward you.
  5. Step 5 Remove the old dryer belt and put the new one in place, with the ribs of the belt facing the drum. The slack part of the belt should be placed near the motor. Reverse the previous directions to replace the drum, replace the screws that hold the sides in place, replace the front and replace the top.
  6. Step 6 Pull the dryer out from the wall and remove the four screws holding in the panel near the bottom of the back of the dryer. You will see the motor, the drum and the belt you just set in place. Loop the belt around the motor pulley and the idler pulley, and turn the drum by hand to make sure that the belt is straight and will stay in place. Screw the panel back on and push the dryer back into place against the wall.

how do you access the 70 series gas dryers ingition system ?

I'm assuming your dryer is similar in design to the one you posted this question under. If it is, you need to follow these steps to access the dryer interior cabinet:

1. UNPLUG the dryer and remove the lint screen. If the lint screen is on top of the dryer, proceed to step 2. If the lint screen is located inside the door, skip to step 3.

2. Remove the two screws that were under the lint screen and lift the top panel, proceed to step 4.

3. Lift the top panel of the dryer. On some models this is accomplished by accessing three screws under the operating console. On other models, you simply stand in front of the dryer and grab each rear corner of the top panel and pull the top towards you. This will release the retaining clips and you will be able to lift the top open. Proceed to step 4.

4. Unplug the door switch conector plug and any ground wire that may be installed on the casing.

5. Locate the two screws that hold the front panel in place. There should be one screw on each side in the cabinet interior.

6. With the door shut, lean against the front panel and remove the two screws that hold it in place. Once the screws are removed, grasp the front panel at the top center and lift straight up to remove.

You should now have complete access to the dryer interior.

If you experience any difficulties following these procedures, please post back with a model number (located on a nameplate around the door opening) so that I may be able to provide you with better assistance. I hope this helps you.
