i'am trying to connect to xbox live but the console says that i need a WAP2 pass phrase i,ve tryed websites but they all say something about looking at back of router but i have a BTHUB so what do i do

The WAP code SHOULD be written on the hub, if not it's on the welcome letter you got with the hub, or also on the box it came in. If you've lost it you can reset the hub by holding a pin into a little hole in the back of the router for 30 seconds until the lights go mad. You'll still need your user name and password though to reconnect to the internet.

how can i connect an additional pc to my rca dcm245 cable modem? i have an ethernet hub.

Hi there.
What you have to do is plug in the Ethernet hub, run the Ethernet cable (RJ45) from the modem to the "internet in" or "internet" socket on the hub, it will the one which is separated from the others.
Then connect an ethernet cable in port 1 to your first computer and a cable from port 2 to your second computer and so on.
If you experience connection problems just pull power from the modem for 30 seconds, plug it back in wait a minute and reconnect.
If you would need further assistance please post back.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Wired router connection

Hi,

To my knowledge, yes. "dial-up internet" connotes standard modem attached to a computer unlike DSL modems (non USB) that are stand alone. Therefore the dial-up internet modem should be connected to a single computer. That PC then would have to enable its Internet Sharing for others in the network to access the Internet. This is accomplished by hooking all the PCs to a single network using a hub/switch. The router can perform this function (hub), however, all the PCs in the network would have to use for their Default Gateway IP address not that of the router but that of the PC with the dial-up internet modem. Having said that, it would then be necessary to use static IP adds in all the PCs. The built-in firewall and DHCP features of the router would not be necessary.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

internet & xbox live sametime Netgear 8-port 10-base-t Ethernet Hub en108

Does the xbox work when connected directly to the internet (not through the hub)? If so, there may be some kind of conflict related to sharing your internet connection between the PC and xbox, and I'd reccommend getting a router instead of a hub.
