Print Driver Location for PC - Print Test Page

Click --> Start Button
go to --> Settings
Open --> Control Panel
in control panel open --> Printers and Faxes
open printer in question, a window will pop up
This should be your Print Que - any print jobs waiting will be listed here
click on --> Printer (some might have File, to the left on the menu)
on the menu select --> Properties

another window will open, this should be your printers properties,
This is where you will click on --> Print Test Page

here you can make changes to the configuration, some ink jets offer alingment and cleaning.

If you are able to sucessfully print a test page, your printer is working
if not check connection to printer
if strange characters are printed, replace the drivers..

First You Need to Open the Print Queue, follow the below steps on how to open a Print queue
  • Windows 98 - click Start, Settings, Printers
  • Windows XP - click Start, Printers and Faxes
    or click Start, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes
  • Windows Vista - Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Printers
Double click on the appropriate printer to open up the Print queue,Check whether you have any pending or the queued jobs, try to cancel the jobs by following the below steps.

To cancel one or more print jobs, follow these steps.
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type control printers, and then click OK.
3. Right-click the icon for your printer, and then click Open.
• To cancel individual print jobs, right-click the print job that you want to cancel, and then click Cancel.
• To cancel all print jobs, click Cancel All Documents on the Printer menu.

If you are using an HP printer and a windows vista operating system then you are lucky to automaticlly fix the issue with the HP Print Diagnostic UtilityClick Here For How to cancel printing or to delete a print job that is stuck in the print queue in Windows XP.

Alternatively You can check the below steps.

How To Restart Spooler restart In Windows Vista

Click the Start button.
Click Control Panel.
Click System and Maintenance.

NOTE: This step is not required when using Classic view in Windows Vista.

Click Administrative Tools.
Double-click Services.
On the User Account Control window, click Continue.
Click Print Spooler.
Click Stop to stop the Print Spooler.
Click Start to restart the Print Spooler. Then click Restart
Click OK

change printer preferences

Assuming you are using Windows of some description, you set and change printer preferences in the Printers and faxes folder of the Control Panel. I.E click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes.
Locate the icon for your printer and double click it.
At the top left of the window is the word PRINTER click on it.
From the drop down menu click on Printer Preferences. Make what ever changes you need and when complete click Apply or OK to set those preferences. Close down all open windows and job done.

When I press print, it shows up as my default print is my fax. How do I change the default printer to be just the printer instead of the fax?

In windows Vista or 7:

  • Open Printers by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking Printers.

  • Right-click the printer you want to use, and then click Set as Default Printer. A check mark is displayed on the printer icon to mark it as your default printer.


  • In windows XP:
    • Open Printers and Faxes; click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes.

    • Right-click the printer you want to use as the default printer, and then click Set as Default Printer. A check mark appears next to the printer icon in Printers and Faxes.

    I have a Canon PIXMA iP2200. It has started printing so small I can barely read it. Also it goes off the right hand side of the page so misses the end of sentences. Can you help.
