Tip & How-To about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
I've been seeing a lot of posts by folks that have misplaced the Product Key that came with their XP installation CD. You are not alone.
While supplying another would be a quick fix, it is also illegal. So please don't ask. But that's not the end of it. There is a remedy.
Product keys can be replaced. Replacement is done solely through Microsoft. But Microsoft has miles of web pages to hunt through, finding the right place to do it can be daunting. Here's how to cut through the red tape, most of it anyhow:
Click here to bring up Microsoft's product replacement page.
Scroll down a few lines.
On the left side, under the second 'More Information' header, click on 'Replacement Product Key'.
This will walk you through the procedure. Follow the prompts. You'll be up and running in no time.
