Tip & How-To about Mattel Health & Beauty

How to best know what a perfume smells like when you're buying perfumeq

When sampling different kinds of perfume one right after the other, in order to get the true smell of each one, bring with you a lemon wedge, and in between sniffs inhale the fragrance of the lemon. This "clears" your nose so that you get the true smell of each different fragrance.

when I am half way down the stairs i smell ammonia . We have a dog that occasionally wees in the kitchen , on a tiled floor , from the stairs through the little sitting room before the kitchen .

An ammonia smell from the dog's u r ine indicates some problem with the dog's liver or renal system. Also, a house trained dog will only do that when it has lost partial control. See if you can get a u r ine sample for testing, and take the dog to a vet.

Ammonia and like metabolites are alkaline, so to neutralise it use a perfumed acidic substance like lemon juice or lemon extract in the floor wash.

I should bring a present to my mother in law. I'm thinking to buy her a perfume. How can i chose a fragrance for someone else?

A good rule of thumb is to stay with a classic fragrance. A fragrance that has been on the market for decades is not as risky as new fragrances on the market. The age of the recipient can also influence your choice. If you are purchasing for a women of college age, Potion, Eternal, or Desire may be appropriate. If you are purchasing for a more mature woman, Amber, Opoponax, or Innocence may be a good choice. Lighter floral fragrances are acceptable to almost everyone. Heavier perfumes with oriental notes are more risky. To guarantee the correct fragrance, give a gift certificate and sample the fragrances at a later time.

How many fragrances can be tried without becoming numbed?

variety of different fragrance types is less fatiguing to the sense of smell. When perfumes are very different you can try five to six; when they are similar, only two to three. Heavier scents tire your nose more quickly so when sampling always begin with lighter scents.
