Tip & How-To about Kitchen Appliances - Others
If your like me and have some great items but that are older now a foodsaver compact 2 is what I have aquired. this perfectly good vacuum sealer has a torn gasket. Although you can get a new one from the manufacture for $3 but by the time it gets to you is $8.57 (for shipping and gasket) you may want to invest in some super glue. Now I only use Gorilla super glue on most of my projects and although it does get hard, it will save you from getting a new gasket. I did order one a new one, just for a back up myself. The gorilla glue super glue will bond the gasket which seams like foam rubber and it will stick together so make sure you have somthing like paper towels and say a post it note handy. i kept the seal in the unit and only pulled out what i needed to do the meld. and no that's not the vulcan meld for those of us trekies, but it is a Vulcanizing meld or seal. I have not worked with super glue in the flexing fasion before so i cant say how long it will hold or if it holds forever. but at least it will work in a jam and until the other part gets here. but for now my air is zapped out of the bags we are vacume sealing for today.
