Tip & How-To about Intex Easy Set Pool 15x36

Simple keys to a beautiful clean pool.

There are 3 keys to a clean swimming pool; filtration, circulation and chemistry. Not having the right amount of any one of these keys will soon cause the pool to be dirty. Filtration requires a filter that allows enough flow and catches any particles in the water. Circulation means enough water is circulating. Chemistry is having the chemicals to the right levels in the pool. The most important component to accomplish these keys is the pump. If the pump doesn't work then the filter doesn't work, the water is not circulating and since chlorine feeders need circulation to deliver enough chlorine to the pool, not having a working pump quickly causes the pool to go green.

Itseems that the water in my pool turned green I put the saltwater chlorinator on for one hour and it started flashing 93, which means normal But it seemed to green in only 2 days

There are 3 keys to a clean pool filttration, chemistry and circulation. I assume the filtration and circulation is ok and it sounds like you might have a chemistry issue. It is best to use a vinyl safe shock to initially bring the chlorine level up to about 10 ppm. In order to keep as much of that chlorine in the pool as possible another chemical, stablizer needs to be to a level of between 20 and 50 ppm. If you don't have enough stablizer then the sun causes a reaction in the water that causes the chlorine to evaporate faster than the chlorinator can replenish it and the pool goes green in about 2 days. Your pool supply store should be able to help you with stablizer. I hope this helps.

My water turned green after I boosted it with my salt water system

The most common error besides not having salt in the pool is not having the right amount stabilizer in it. This is a chemical that has an affinity for chlorine ions and if it is not there the chlorine can be disipated in a few hours when the sun hits it. Another name for it is Cyanuric Acid. It can be purchased in granular form at many pool supply stores or in a liquid form at Leslies. In order to get your pool blue you need to have the chemistry checked at a pool store or with a test kit (either liquid or strips). Don't buy everything a pool supply tells you to buy but start out with vinyl safe shock, stabilizer and salt. The pool store should be able to help you determine the dose. The following is what I would do:
1. Make sure salt is at the recommended concentration.
2. Shock the pool to recommended dose to start killing the algae.
3. Place the recomended dose of stabilizer in the pool.
4. Make sure pump and filter are working properly.
5. Check the pool chemistry on a daily basis until it is ready for swimming.
6. Check the chemistry on a weekly basis and clean the pool and equipment according to the pool instructions.

Smile, you are a pool manager.

how do i drain my pool with a hayward variflow pump?

To Flush out the filter with the backwash setting. The backwash setting releases trapped particles from the filter back into the swimming pool. You may need to alternate between the rinse and backwash settings until the water runs clear in order to unblock your filtration system and flush out clogs. To Rinse away dislodged items from the backwash setting. The rinse setting flushes clean water through the pipes and carries away any particles or clogs freed during the backwashing. To Drain the pool select waste on the multiport valve. This sends the water directly to the drain rather than back into the swimming pool. Close the filtration equipment and stop the pump with the closed setting. You should only use the closed setting when you turn the pump off. This function allows you to remove the strainer basket, clean the filter tank and perform other swimming pool maintenance on the filtration system.
