Tip & How-To about Apple iPod touch

How to Connect my Apple iPod Touch 8 GB to Internet

Apple iPod touch is a touch screen version of its popular iPod device, similar in appearance and function of the iPhone. Like the iPhone, iPod touch is able to access the Internet, although by different means. While the iPhone usually connect to the Internet via a wireless network operator's mobile data, the only way to connect to the Internet in an 8 GB iPod Touch is the device to use built-in wireless adapter.

1. Get references to a wireless network nearby, if you are not home or do not have access to a public network without a password. If you're in a cafe, for example, ask the cashier to use the network password and you should use to connect.

2. Tap your iPod Touch "Settings" icon and "Wi-Fi." If a blue button "off" appears next to the Wi-Fi, tap it on the wireless adapter to connect the device.

3. Scroll through the list of wireless networks will appear, and then tap corresponding to your network. Enter a password - if the network requires - and tap "Connect" to your connection to the Internet iPod touch 8 GB.

iPhone or iPod touch running iPhone OS 2.2.1 or earlier
  1. Press and hold the Home button for six seconds.
  2. If the device does not return to the Home screen, see the steps below to restart.

If the iPhone or iPod touch remains unresponsive, try restarting the device:

My itouch screen is responding to touch but not doing anything

I would restore the ipod touch using itunes. I have included step by step instructions below just in case you are unsure on how to do a restore.

Last Modified: February 16, 2009 Article: HT1414 Old Article: 305744 Using the Restore function for your iPhone or iPod touch is part of standard troubleshooting procedure. Restoring your device will erase all data from your iPhone or iPod touch, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPhone or iPod touch settings are restored to their factory condition.
Whenever you restore your iPhone or iPod touch, Apple highly recommends that you perform a sync prior to restoring in order to back up any changes since your last sync. If you have movie rentals on the device, see this document before restoring.
Use the following steps to restore your iPhone or iPod touch:
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed and running before attempting to update. Connect your iPhone or iPod touch to your computer. Select your iPhone or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices. Select the Summary tab. Select the Restore option. When prompted to back up your iPhone or iPod touch's settings before restoring, select the Back Up option (as seen in the image below). If have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another.
Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (As long as you've backed up your device, you should not have to worry about restoring your phone).
Once the restore process has completed the iPhone or iPod touch restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up

If this does not resolve your issue, you most likely have a hardware issue. If that is the case you may be able to get it repaired or replaced by apple for free depending on how old it is. I included the apple phone number below.
