How do I update my iTouch Operating System (Firmware)

The iPod touch is a personal media player that lets you play music, watch movies and see the Internet (Wi-Fi) in a single device. Apple releases updates to the operating system of the iPod touch. These updates usually the device to optimize, fix bugs and installing new software. You can use your device using iTunes.


1. Launch iTunes. Upgrade to the latest version of iTunes, when prompted.


2. Connect your iPod touch to the computer with the USB cable that came with the device. Wait for iTunes to detect your device. The device appears under Devices on the left side of the program window after it was discovered.


3. Click on the name of your iPod touch when it appears under Devices, click on "Check for Update" on the right side of the window. ITunes will scan your iPod touch to see if the latest software available.


4. Click "Update" dialog box to install the latest operating system. The update is downloaded. The Apple logo will appear on the screen of your iPod touch with a progress bar under it when the update is installed on your machine. Do not place the iPod touch, while the update is installed. After the update, restart your iPod touch and boots to the home screen, or if the device is password protected, the password entry screen.

The network administrator should be approached for these details.

Monitor the Wi-Fi icon at the top of the screen.
The more bars that are highlighted, the stronger the signal.
Get closer for a stronger signal.
