Sign into your Fixya account. Once signed in, click your avatar at the top right of the page and click the "My Account" link in the dropdown.

On the My Account page scroll down the My Settings section, update your full name and then click save my information.

To become a Fixya expert all you have to do is answer questions and help others with their product problems.

As far as making money, Fixya experts no longer recieve compensation for solving problems. The service was discontinued a few years ago.

Hi Andrew,

You can send a quick note to the Fixya Support Team and they can help you categorize your question properly. Also note, that level 3 experts are also allowed to moderate problems posted to the wrong category.

When asking a question it's helpful to select a product from the dropdown instead of just typing in a specific product name. That will make sure that you have selected the correct product.

Hi Scott,

In many different locations throughout the Fixya website, there is a manual section placed on the pages. You can drag and drop from your computer or click the button to upload a manual.

The section looks like:

"Add your Product" Feature can help you speed up the posting questions process and viewing issues to products similar to yours.
Once you add a product by choosing it from the drop down list, you will be able to view all questions regarding this product. You will also be able to follow up on your own questions.
Adding your products is entirely optional, if you do not wish to do so you may skip this part.
If you can't find your product on the list, please post your problem using the Ask box on the top of the page and follow the on screen instructions.
When you are asked to categorize your question and choose a product, please choose the closest category (if you can't find a specific product).
For example: If you have a 123xyz Samsung refrigerator but you can't find this specific model in the drop down list, please choose Samsung Refrigerators.
Your question will still be visible to all the relevant experts.
Please make sure that you add as many details to your question and include the model & brand. The more details, the easier it will be for the expert to assist and this is highly important regarding questions under a general category.

Legal characters are characters which are accepted when posting on the Fixya website. If you are receiving an error about illegal characters it means you are using characters found on the keyboard (such as symbols) that Fixya does not accept. This can sometimes be caused when copy/pasting from word processing software which can insert incorrect commas, apostrophes, or even hidden characters.

Make sure to type your question directly into the box and make sure to try and avoid strange symbols or characters.
