How to request more information for an unclear question on Fixya.



Sometimes when folks need help with their product issues, they can be frustrated or in a hurry to get help. This sometimes causes questions to be rushed or unclear. In many cases these types of questions don't provide enough information for Fixya Experts to help. Missing models, years, or even small details can make a huge difference when asking a question.

As a Fixya Expert there is a simple way to contact the person who has asked a question and ask them for more information. Simply following these easy steps will help you get the info you need to help folks solve their problems.

When a question does not have enough information for you to provide an answer, simply click the request more info link below the question. A box will appear with a default message (can be edited) requesting more information. Just click the send button and the person asking the question will be notified about your request.

Using the request information feature can help you get the information you need to help answer any unclear questions. This is also much more convenient and helpful than simply posting an answer that just reads: "No model, how would we know", which is not really a helpful answer. Sometimes, simply asking the model by requesting more info will get you all the help you need!

Wow, well that's dumb. I should absolutely be able to delete a "solution" and you might want to consider making it possible to "comment" as opposed to every form of communication being either problem or solution.

Fixya does not charge for any services. You will need to contact the company that charged you in order to cease those charges.

I've been here answering questions for almost two years. As far as I know, it's always been free advice. Getting paid would inject a potential liability into the mix that I would hesitate to accept since I cannot vouch for the skill or sanity of those who ask the questions.

Check your computer, it could have some kind of malware install which allow to run spyware programs. As of now I don't have anything popping up when I use Fixya.
Try another browser, install add ons in your browser like AdBlock plus and Ghostery, they help a lot.

When people write for help in fixya, please add as much information as possible.
I see topics like 'manual needed' in sewing machines, and we have no idea what machine manual you need. Cars section has 'How do I fix the radio"? Goodness me, hundreds if not thousands of radio types, and was it an after market part or original.
PLEASE PEOPLE - Don't just put "I need help" in a section and leave it! Help us help you by putting more information about the possible object you have - Type, Make, Model for example.

Hi Dave,

In order to post solutions and questions on Fixya you must be signed in.

I believe that you were not signed in to Fixya and this is why the answer was lost. Please note that if you are not signed in to Fixya, and you try to post your solution, Fixya will give you a chance to sign in by pointing you to the sign in window so you will not lose the answer you just entered.

You can tell right away if you are signed in to Fixya by the Avatar on the top right corner of the Fixya page. If you can't see the avatar and you can see the "sign In" link, it means that you need to sign in to Fixya before answering questions.

I hope this clarifies the issue and I'm sorry for the lost answer.
