Just before Windows boots, keep pressing the F8 key. When you get the boot menu, boot into Safe mode and click NO, when asked to logon. This would start System restore. Restore the system to a date when you know that Windows worked fine.
Here’s a youtube video on how to restore a system with System Restore
Here are step-by-step tutorials on System Restore:
For Windows XP:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/using-system-restore-in-xp/ http://www.5starsupport.com/faq/xp-system-restore.htm
For Windows 7 or Vista:

Hope that helps,

Raspal

You have to look at the cable connections on both your TV and Laptop. They should both have the same HDMI connector.
Check your Dell Manual to see which connector is the HDMI

If you don't have a manual for your Dell:

www.dell.com/support
Will have the manuals free.
Hope this helps.

It sounds like if your screen stays lit fairly well during BIOS that is would be an issue with the Operating systems settings themselves. If you are using windows i would look for any options that may have something to do with display lightness darkness contrast anything really. Also see if you can hold the Fn key on your key board and locate a sun or light bulb with an up arrow beside it. While holding the Fn key press the light bulb or sun several times and see if that helps.
