How do I remove the base of a Freud FT2000e router
Hi There, My name is Larry --I am a FREUD DEALER IN CANADA
To answer your question about the router springs. You must first remove the cap carefully to prevent any damage to the speed module. Under the cap you will find two nuts first lock the base and leave about 2 inches for a socket to go over the nut .Remove normally and be careful when you release the base do it slowly it will spring up fast and hard --

Freud has been bought out by Bosch and their tools are being fazed out.
I think your speed control module went on the fritz not your switch.
The speed module is still available and the switch to.
If you would like a quote I would be happy to oblige all I need is the colour of the cap,the serial number and make sure of the model.
Thanks Larry
Suddenly slowed down and speed can not be
Hi There my name is Larry Boccioletti from Ontario Canada.
I am a Freud service dealer.
Your problem is in the speed control module located under the cap.
Because it is a sealed unit it is not repairable.
But they are replaceable. If you can let me know the colour of the cap I will let you know which one you need.
They made some changes so the colour is important.

You can find a part diagram and parts list on-line. Just enter the model #. The variable speed control module is no longer available. You can bypass the control, and connect the router directly. You will no longer be able to control the speed, or turn off the router. I used a variable 15A control box instead. It will function the same way.
You may want to just replace the router with a new up-to date router, I just purchased a 2 1/2HP Skil router kit tah has a 1/2 chuck, and both a plunger base a flat base, for $100 at a big box store.

I have taken my FT 2000 E to my local saw shop for
I have a FT2200 with a bad speed control unit 76348.8015. Freud no longer supplies this part. I bypassed it, and I am using an external variable speed control supply. The only setback is there is no longer "Torque Control". This presents a problem if the bit burns, but I control the speed of feed. So for, I am getting by. A new one is TOO expensive.
Problem with my Freud router
Hi,
with the router plugged in.... and the trigger pulled so that it should be running... CAREFULLY give the shaft a spin and see if it takes off running...if it does, then you have a brush problem... if not then it is a trigger,or speed control problem...no power is getting to the motor...
Hope this helps you narrow it down at least...
