Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses.
Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX.
If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses.

Player will not turn on
Possible that the player has hung up and so it has hung up the player. So try to see if the player can be reset, if not connect to the PC and try a scan on the files If you see there are faulty files, then clean the files and format.
My computer does not recognize
Could because different USB ports and other devices. Or it wont turn on or not noticing the device. ? did you try using Itunes or Windows media player try those two. And make sure it fully all the all the way charge before trying it.
I have a RCA Opal
You must have moved a file from the player that you shouldn't have. If you know where on the MP3 you moved the files from and where it is now on your laptop you can try COPYING the files back to the mp3 player. If you didn't use the software for the Opal it won't work properly, ie give you the problem you have now. These players require their own software and the files have to be in the correct director in order for them to read. It sounds like you have lost a required file, most likely moved it to the laptop by mistake. It would have been a hidden file most likely.
IDX files are the index and DAT is the data. Without the right files it can't access or "see" them.
I have an rca opal#M4208GR-B
i have the same damn problem. On the menu screen, i don't see any words, letters and ect. I only see the icons. When I try playing the music on my opal m4208-GR, It only shows a black screen. So i don't know what too do. I tried reformatting and the firmware update. Im guessing you have too kill the battery for the whole day. Try playing the mp3 all day until the battery drains out. Hopefully it can regain memory after that.
Have an issue with an RCA M4804, having a problem
When your downloading music the mp3 player must completely write the data files completely onto it. Your mp3 player must not. Try downloading the data of the songs over. And do not mess with the process such as playing music on the computer or Doing anything else on the computer as well. I hope this helps.

Need to reinstall data on RCA Opal M4208GR-B
I did the same thing and reformatted mine too! If you go to
www.rcaaudiovideo.com and put in your model number M4208GR and click on the update for the firmware update again then it will put everything back on the MP3 player. I know it sounds nuts but it worked for me and it wont do anymore harm then you have already done ;) Give it a try. Hope it works for you like it did me!
