My mp3 wont format.

You are limited on how you can format the device without using command line parameters, but I assure you that needing to format the device is highly unlikely. The device needs a certain amount of available space to profile and create the database (stores the metadata about the media you have on the device to display it on the device). Try removing some media so that you have at least 50MB of free space (to be sure you have enough space available).

If this problem persists, then there is likely a file on the device that is corrupting the player or the flash itself has gotten corrupt, but based on the message you are being displayed, this too is unlikely.

I don't know how to upload music into my M4304 RCA MP3

There should have been a file on the player that you can access through Windows Explorer (My Computer, click on the dirve that is your player) that should be named: RCAeasyRip_setup.exe

If you do not have this file, it can be downloaded from the RCA site here:
http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2253

Run this file to install the RCA easyRip softwar that allows you to transfer all media. You HAVE to use this application to transfer videos because it does the conversion to a compatible format (if Windows Media Player can play it, easyRip should be able to convert it). Any questions you have about using easyRip can be accessed by the module on the dock that has a '?' on the icon for it (Look up the Player Loader module for how to transfer).

Other media you can just drag and drop to the device if you don't care about video (again, just find the drive letter that is your player in My Computer and just drag and drop music and photos onto that drive)

Lastly, you can use Windows Media Player to sync any music and photo files.

You can try using a different USB port on your computer, or even a different computer to try to recover your media. You can also try pressing and holding the Play button for about 15-20 seconds while you connec the device to your PC and see if it will recognize it that way.

Otherwise, you may be stuck just having to do a firmware reinstall. Not all firware updates erase your media, it just depends on what firmware you currenlty have installed, and if the fimware reinstall needs to delete all of your media, it will inform you in time to cancel. It does appear, unfortunately, that there is some type of file/firmware corruption on the device based on your description of its current behavior.

In case you need to bite the bullet and reinstall the firmware, here is the link:

With the User Interface on the M42, that is not an available option. The player essentially finds all music on the player and puts each track's metadata (info about each track) into a database. As a result, you can only organize your songs by the available options of the database (e.g., Artist, Albums, Titles, Genres, etc.).

My MP3 Player suddenly shuts off by its self.

First thing I would do is download and install a software update program from rca's website.
If the upgrade doesn't work, which it should, then battery pack or ribbon connection cable between battery pack and main circuit board is loose or faulty.
