Self-propelled mower started smoking and it was

not if is a 4 stroke engine not being bothered to include engine make , model year etc makes answering accurately. you could even say the color of the smoke so here is a generic answer ( 4 stroke ) it indicates that there is a problem in the needle and seat and there is no fuel flow control in the carby if it is a 2 stroke with a carby --same problem ordinary engine oil (20w-40) for 4 stroke sump) and special 2 stroke for 2 stroke engine

When I engage the blades

This is a common problem. The driver must be in the seat when the PTO blades are engaged. Below the seat, attached to the seat there is a switch that confirms the operator is present. If the switch is defective or seat is obstructed the switch wil not actuate and the mower will shut off. Hope this helps? maxresdefault-a10bphvbvk10ehvve1mojymd-1-0.jpg download-a10bphvbvk10ehvve1mojymd-1-2.jpg diagram-a10bphvbvk10ehvve1mojymd-1-14.gif

Why can't I remove front wheels? Ihave removed all bolts and screws; something seems to be locking the wheels on.

The bearings are no doubt shot, but the wheel should still come off. Check closely and see if there is a cauter pin which needs to be removed.

Where is fuel filter

You will rarely if ever have a fuel filter on a push lawnmower. It may be that because of the fact that fuel consumption is very low, a filter would not be easy to incorporate into the system. Consider being sure that you start each season with fresh fuel and you should not encounter any problems. Leaving old fuel in a tank at the end of the season can prove to be very damaging and troublesome.

Poulan snowblower with tecumseh engine runs

Hi
This is a common problem with snow blowers becuase they set around more then they get used and the gas gets stale and cloggs up the carb. First thing to try is remove the bolt that holds the carb bowl on and clean it. It should have 1 or 2 holes through the side close to the bottem and 1 hole about half way up. If this doesn't do the trick you need to remove the whole carb disassemble and soak it in carb cleaner.

Lawn mower starts then stalls out and won't restart. Blades won't turn when the engine starts.

It's not getting enough fuel to the carb. It may have some water in the fuel so unless you are 100%certain it is good gas then I recommend draing all the gas out of the tank and also removing the carb and clean it. Primer pump lacation

Not all mowers use this feature to start their fuel flowing. Try using choke for 2-3 pulls, and reduce to half-choke if it starts. If all else fails, make sure it's not flooded by opening up the throttle for a few pulls.
