Clarke plate sander vs drum for a floor that only needs
drum sander leaves chatter marks you must plate these out. belt sander is the best way to go, however it will take longer to just plate than to drum and plate. for light sanding i would start with a 60 grit on the drum, then 80, then 100. plate with 100 screen till chatter free, then final with 150 screen. this is if you intend to go to raw wood.
It seems the sanding table has frozen to the eccentric.
Go to Americansanders.com and under the orbital sander click on it and the manual is 38 pages long, the parts explosion is towards the back of the manual but it should show you how to disassemble this tool so you can get to the bolts that you need. Let me know if you need more help
Clarke FM1700 buffer-sander, problems with using it
what is the condition of the felt pad on the driver?? The sander should not be that hard, usually you need to lift up or slightly bear down to get the machine to move left or right. Are there any exposed nails in the area you are sanding and check the grit for the sanding conditions
