A compressor don't regulate ??? If it comes on it should stop when the desired pressure is acquired inside the tank , This pressure is regulated by the setting of the pressure (switch) Compressor comes on at a set pressure and turns off at a set pressure this is regulated by the pressure switch,.. AND is limited by the size or capiticy of the motor and compressor you have , A regulator is set out side of the compressor to maintain the pressure you want at the end on you hose to do run different tools.

the line from the compressor to the tank should have a check valve .so that the compressor head does not have pressure for easy start up... check and replace if needed. when compressor attempts to start its to dificult with the pressure, causing circuit overload.

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
This is a fairly common problem with these machines normally the seals inside of the air pressure regulator will fail thus leading the machine not able to build up pressure so i would first check there then i would take a spray bottle and add a little amount of dish soap to it and fill it with water and then shake it then spray all of the fittings on the compressor and see if there are any leaks and tighten as needed and lastly check the relief valve to see if it is seated this is done by lifting the relief valve and cleaning out the valve seat then setting it again and spray it down with the soap solution and see if it is leaking when the machine is on if so replace it
I have three compressors. Two are oiless and I
It's hard to say what you did to it. The only way to know is to take it apart. As for whether it's worth it or not. You will have to answer that after you see how much damage there is.However I can help with the parts you will need. Click the link below for a list of the available parts for your compressor. I can also tell you there is really not many parts to the pump motor assembly.
I really hope this helps.

Replace it. Any attempt to repair will not last long enough to make it worth while if you are successful at all. Eric
Cut off switch problem
The pressure switch will trip off when the compressor reaches the rated setting (usually 120 ~150psi). If the compressor keeps running untill the safety pops releasing air (usually about 160psi) then the switch is most likely problem. I use SquareD switch from
WWW.Grainger.com.
However if the compressor keeps running but never pops the safety and only reaching around 90 to 100psi, then you could have several other issues including: leaking fittings (check with soapy water), worn cylinder and piston (on oilfree compressor examine cylinder from below and look for scratches), leaking valves on oil type compressor. Good Luck
