Usually you will get shutdowns through Virus/malware infection or overheating.

Can I install a better CPU into my Toshiba

Changing CPU is a serious change. When your unit was built the processor speed and type were written into the BIOS. When we change the CPU to a different type there is a chance that the BIOS will not recognize it and refuse to boot up. Also Windows was installed with the original CPU and a major change in hardware could mess up Windows.

I did some research and found this model comes with a 2.0-GHz AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core RM-70 CPU and 4GB of RAM. This is not the fastest CPU that can be put in a laptop but a very good one. (faster than mine)

I can guide you through the steps to replace it but my advice is stick with what you have until it breaks and buy a faster laptop. The upgrade won't gain you enough to justify the expense.

My Toshiba P304D 8900 laptop

We most probably have one of three things happening. Either it's an LCD display problem, a bad motherboard or something is hanging things up.

For the LCD problem, start it up in a dark room and see of there is a faint display visible.

We'll not worry about the motherboard for the time being.

If you hear any beep sound then the ram could be defective please clean the contacts of the ram with a pencil eraser then reseat them if the problem persist i.e if you still hear beeps then the rams are defective.

If you do not hear any beep sound then try to power it on without the battery if still the issue persist then problem seems to be with other hardware spares please try to remove the spares one by one and check the issue but remember do not try it if you are not confident and call any tech to confirm the exact defective spare..

Hello there, when I turn on my laptop ( toshiba

The computer has gotten hung up on the latest Windows update. There may be a recovery here, but the problem with these updates especially if your have the computer to update automatically is that some of these are service pack updates, and a service pack update actually overwrites files as it updates, so if it hangs or has a problem, it can actually corrupt the windows installation. Try this fix, you'll need the Windows Vista installation disc. If you have XP, the procedure is pretty much the same except that Vista does the work automatically......

Vista Boot-up Repair

Vista is very good about repairing itself. Boot from the cd and when prompted choose your windows installation, most likely it will be the only one. Once that is chosen, windows will ask what you wish to do….choose repair, if windows finds errors in the boot-up process, it will fix them from the files on the disc….if does not find anything relevant or cannot fix the errors, it will prompt you to try system restore and give you hints on the restore points to choose, I usually will go back farther than what is suggested. If these do not work, follow the repair listed below.

Step one, you need a Windows Vista CD. If you only have a recovery disk set like the ones from HP or Compaq they will not do what you need done. Under normal circumstances however, you can use a Dell disk because the Operating system is on a stand-alone disk. All retail versions are also acceptable as well as upgrade disks. For a rule of thumb, if the disk has the Microsoft hologram it should work. You can order a boot up floppy disk from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994 with this file, if you know how, you can use “ImageBurn” to burn the file into an ISO file which can be burned to a disk. Now make sure your computer boots to the cd rom first. If you know how to do this skip on down, if you don’t, while the computer is first starting up and you see the manufacturers splash screen, tap F12 (some computers it’s F9, others it may be another key, you may have to watch and see if the computer lists the key strokes for getting to the boot menu. If you still cannot find it, boot into the BIOS settings and change your boot order there. Save your settings and exit, the computer will now seek the cd rom as its boot source first.
Place your Windows disk in the computer and start it up. When you see the test at the top of the page “Press Any Key To Boot From CD” Just hit the space bar to activate. The next screen you will see will most likely be a Windows setup screen, when you see this press the “R” key to get to the recovery console. It will get there, it may take a little time, patience. Once it loads you will be given a choice of Windows installations, there should only be one, if there are more, always pick number one. It may ask for an administrators password, if you have not set this particular password, then just leave it blank and press enter. The next prompt you see is:
C:\Windows>
You need to type the following:
cd \
hit enter. Pay close attention to the spacing between the characters. There is a space between the character “d” and the “\”
You are now at the ROOT of the drive, this is where basic commands can be given and changed. You should now see the following:
C:\>
Now type the following:
CHKDSK /R
Hit the enter key.
The chkdsk /r command also includes the P command and will also look for lost recoverable information in bad sectors.
There are occasions depending on how corrupt the system is, that this process could take several hours, so be patient with it.
Now, after chkdsk has run type the following:
FIXBOOT
Hit the enter key.
It may prompt you with a warning, that’s ok, just continue. When fixboot has finished, type: EXIT hit enter and windows will reboot. When the system reboots, tap the F8 key during this time and you will see the multi-boot menu come up. Scroll to the title “Last Know Good Configuration” and hit the enter key. If you were having some simple drive errors this should have fixed them.

Change video output to s vedio connection

If the computer does not easily and automatically show the computer screen on the tv through the S-video output, make sure the tv is switched to S-Video and Hold down the Fn + F5 keys to toggle through the video output manually on the laptop. Just make sure that only one video source is connected at a time. Your laptop will not support two output sources at the same time. Below is the user manual in which it discusses the use of an external device on page 70.

Is the product key for Microsoft office 2013 the same as all product keys for 2013 Microsoft offices that operate under laptops using windows 8.1?

The product key is associated with the MS Office 2013 software, not the specific MS Windows version of Operating System - unless the MS Office lists a minimum version of OS ie: "Windows 8.0" In this case, it would not install on Windows 7. Otherwise, you should be able to install it on Windows 7, Windows 8, or later.

Japanese Visa Application with COE denied. Why?

How to Get Employment Security With Correct Japan Work Visa Japan is no different from other developing nations whereby grass seems greener on its side of the pasture. It attracts its fair share of foreign businesses as well as nationals seeking to work within its lands. Albeit many adhere to immigration procedures, some choose to test their limits on the basis of ignorance or defiance. By understanding the different types of work visa in Japan, it assures its foreign workers a continual stream of income with no threat of arrest and deportation. Visa simply infers the status of residence. Citizens obviously have no need of it as they automatically satisfy qualifications to freely reside in their country of birth. As for those of alien status who wish to join the local workforce, there should be a category to match one's requirement. Since most countries strive to improve the overall quality of life, professionals are generally welcomed to contribute knowledge and skill. Unskilled labor is normally not granted a visa to avoid flooding and dilution of the workforce. The visa is awarded in accordance to one's area of expertise. Supported with proof of relevant experience, it is based on the field of involvement whilst working in the country. In the event one's work scope changes from one expertise to another, it is essential to apply for a visa under the new circumstances. Different types of work visa in Japan also apply to foreign companies seeking to conduct local business. Domestic companies based abroad wishing to set up a local point of presence need to provide supporting documents to justify internal transfer of foreign workers. Governmental staff for diplomatic duties is assigned a category for legal residence. Over and above the general groupings, designated activities also garner approval from the authorities. Domestic service for non-native residents and citizens of certain nations on working holidays fall into this category of working visa. This, by no means, is the end of the list as it is best to consult the authorities on which visa serves best.Click Here For More Details: http://japanjobandvisaservice.com/blog/change-your-luck-when-apply-work-visa
