HP HD7500S USB 2.0 Hard Drive it just sites where ever you want. it's totally an external box. the 1st cable is called USB-2. and plugs into any USB2 or 3 PC port. (front or rear ) steps: see the jack U below that goes to any USB port. See jack P below that is Power from a 12vdc 2amp power pack, if there is no good power pack used, the hard drive inside can not startup up and run its motor that uses huge currents. see the rubber feet there, that tells you it can site any where and not slide about. a shelf, as desk, or top of PC case ; enjoy, pwr-1jol4lu1djrocmlrx1c2bztj-3-0.jpg

My HP Personal Media Drive

Welcome to Fixya

Sounds like its already a hardware problem. Try to use a different cable and let us see if replacing the cable will resolved the issue. You can take out the HD inside the enclosure and put it to another enclosure. This will help us identify if the enclosure is having the problem. If it will work on a different enclosure then the problem would be the original enclosure. If this will not work with a new enclose then there is a possibility that the problem is the HD already. You may not be able to recover any data there if the HD is unreadable. Using a recovery software is not an option as of the moment.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thank you for using Fixya! If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/elixirjose_00375ea24bd8141b

Where can I download the hd7500s driver?

It should not need any.

I devised these simple steps that tend to remedy quite a few issues with most USB portable / external hard drives and devices (though not always)

A few things to check but assumes USB and Windows for other interfaces / operating systems similar steps may be adapted to suit.

1. Ensure it is connected directly to the computer to a USB 2.0 port not a USB 1.0 port as this can have effects on performance and reliability

2. Use only the cables that came with it NOT one that fits that may have been lying around or is longer. Not all USB cables are equal even though they should be)

3. Do not connect through an external USB HUB unless that hub is USB 2.0 AND has its own power supply.

4. Use ONLY the power supply that came with it if it has an external power supply Don’t use any other unless you know it has both the same voltage and current rating e.g. 12V 500mA anything rated below that would not work properly.

5. Always use the same port for connecting your devices. Some devices do not like being switched about. If switched they may want to install software / drivers again. This can be especially true if you move a HUB to another port

If you checked and fixed anything there and still have issues then check your hardware from CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / HARDWARE.
Any exclamation marks by hardware need fixing before you investigate any further

If you still cannot access it then try via the disk management panel and make sure it shows up there.

Oh and if its making any clicking noises after being bumped dropped etc. you may be in for some bad news.

Clicking often referred to as "The click of death" is usually just that.

your device could have many isues. could be the Disk, The USB Converter, The USB Cable. best would be to check the device on a nother computer. if it does not work swap another cable, if not then better look for that warranty card.

Hp supply central pin connected to the 19V power

  1. Central Pin: In many laptop power supply connectors, especially those using the barrel-type connector, there's a central pin that carries the voltage (typically around 19 volts for most laptops) to power the device.
  2. Voltage and Polarity: It's crucial to ensure that the voltage supplied by the power adapter matches the requirements of your laptop. Most laptops operate on 19 volts, but there are exceptions, so always double-check the specifications of your laptop and the power supply.
  3. Polarity: Additionally, the polarity of the connector is important. The central pin typically carries positive voltage, while the outer sleeve of the connector is the ground (negative). Reversing polarity can damage your laptop, so make sure the connector is inserted correctly.
  4. Safety: Always use the power adapter that came with your laptop or a compatible replacement from a reputable manufacturer. Using an incorrect or incompatible power adapter can not only damage your laptop but also pose safety hazards such as overheating or electrical fires.
  5. Replacement: If you need to replace your laptop's power adapter, ensure that the new adapter provides the correct voltage, polarity, and wattage for your laptop model. It's often safer to purchase adapters from the laptop manufacturer or certified third-party suppliers to guarantee compatibility and safety.
